Palestinian Flotilla Gets What It Deserves! Long live Israel!

I have been following the story of the Palestinian flotilla, of six ships filled with Muslims and their useful idiot supporters, attempting to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

Israel has blockaded Gaza to prevent Muslim forces from supplying local terrorists like Hamas with the war material needed to continue bombarding Israel with rockets and killing Israelis in their endless war against Jews.  The flotilla was allegedly trying to deliver "humanitarian aid" to the Palestinians, which is unnecessary since such aid can be shipped by land, subject to UN inspection to remove any weapons or war supplies.  When the Israeli Navy attempted to board the ships for inspection, their soldiers were attacked, beaten, stabbed and shot at.  The soldiers returned fire, killing ten of the Palestinian supporters.

Right Wing News has the best description of the events and their political aftermath.  They write:
Honestly, I don't find the Palestinian people to be the least bit sympathetic. They're backwards, genocidal, hyper-violent, sad sack, Nazi wannabes led by terrorists who would happily murder every Jew on the planet if they could get away with it.
Then there are the Israelis. They're a tiny Western Democracy surrounded by backwards savages who want to murder them down to the last child because they're Jews.
Right Wing News compares the responses of conservative bloggers vs. liberal bloggers.  The conservatives support Israel, the leftwing bloggers support the flotilla operators and Palestinians, and condemn Israel for defending itself.  The Leftist position is totally without merit.

Once again we see how evil the left is:  they always support evil over good, tyranny over democracy, lies over truth.  They, like the "Palestinians" are thoroughly despicable.

Read the Right Wing News article to get up to speed.

Memorial Day 2010

In the past I have posted pictures and poems dedicated to our fallen heroes.  Rather than try and top those efforts today, I will merely refer the reader to those earlier posts.

1.  Memorial Day, 2009:  The American Cemetery in Normandy, France, containing the dead from the D-Day invasion of June 6, 1944.

2.  Memorial Day 2008:  Photos from friends, depicting those who died in war.

3.  Memorial Day 2007:  Thoughts on a local sailor who died in 1969.

4. Memorial Day 2006:  The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; poem, The Bivouac of the Dead.

5.  Major John McCrae:  The Story of "In Flanders Fields."  This is probably the best post on the subject of Memorial Day.

6.  Remembering Pearl Harbor and the lessons of history.

7.  Memorial Service for the Crew of the U.S.S. Grunion (WWII Submarine).  Video and song, the Navy Hymn.

8.  Memorial Day Meditations:  Freedom Isn't Free; Alan Seeger's Life and Poem "I Have a Rendezvous with Death."  This probably ties No. 5 as the best post on the subject of Memorial Day.  Alan Seeger was an American who served with the French Foreign Legion, fighting the Germans in World War I France.  Seeger graduated from Harvard University in 1910 -- 100 years ago.

9.  Song & video:  Battle Hymn of the Republic

10.  Story, Song & video:  America the Beautiful

Donald Douglas: Sign Seen in Arizona Illegal Immigrant Rally

Donald Douglas of American Power did a fine job of reporting on the illegal immigrant rallies in Phoenix yesterday.  He posted pictures of signs held by the pro-illegal immigrant demonstrators.  Basically, the signs say, "Screw you white people, America belongs to us (because we said so) and we'll go anywhere, anytime to take anything we want."

To which I say, "Like Hell you will!"

On the left is one of the most obnoxious of the signs Donald saw at the rally.  On the right is my Photoshop correcting the sign so that it now tells the truth.

Barack Obama: an Unfolding Nightmare

The open undersea oil well continues to spew oil in the Gulf of Mexico, creating what is now the greatest environmental disaster in U.S. history.  President Jiveturkey doesn't have a clue what to do about it.  However, we must remember, he was a community organizer, a beneficiary of affirmative action who never held a real job or managed anything before becoming president.

Today we find ourselves in dire circumstances:  deep recession,  historically high deficits, widespread joblessness, war brewing in Korea and continuing in Afghanistan, a tsunami of illegal immigrants overwhelming our social services and welfare agencies, the coming economic meltdown of Europe, and now an environmental disaster that no one is able to stop.  How encouraging that we have a naive, rigidly ideological amateur at the helm of state!

We conservatives warned the public about what would happen if Obama was elected, and our predictions were correct.  Barack Obama is an unfolding nightmare.  The train wreck of his presidency may very well hand control of congress back to the GOP, but it will be a Pyrrhic victory.  While Obama and the Dems are wrecking their chances for continuing rule, they are also wrecking the country that we all must live in, and we will all suffer, regardless of our personal politics.

Cleaning up the Gulf Coast oil spill will be easy compared to cleaning up the wreckage wrought by Barack Obama.  Both disasters will take years to repair.

Yes, DRILL BABY DRILL, in Spite of the Oil Rig Disaster

Liberals and leftists are a real study in stupidity and hypocrisy. They point to the latest oil drilling accident off Louisiana as a reason why we should not be drilling for oil, anywhere at any time. What they don't discuss, however, is the alternative to not drilling: higher prices for energy and reliance on foreign sources that are hostile to the United States.

So what are the alternatives to drilling? Solar and wind power, which supply a minuscule percentage of our energy needs? Are future cars to have large sails attached to the roofs? Are we to freeze in our homes? Pay $8 for a gallon of gas? Cheaper, more plentiful supplies of oil result in a more robust economy, a higher standard of living for all, and less American funding of oil sheiks who hate us.

The latest oil disaster is a result of bans on drilling on land, or closer to shore where such leaks would be more easily fixed. It is the Left's hatred of oil and energy that caused this oil leak, by refusing to allow far more efficient and safer ways to extract oil.

Psota at Free Will has an intelligent discussion on oil disasters and "Drill Baby Drill." Do get over there and read his blog -- it's excellent, and leave some comments.

Poor Little Schmuck: Gary Coleman Dies

Gary Coleman died today.  I always felt sorry for the poor little schmuck.  First he had kidney disease, which stunted his growth and required daily dialysis.  Then he was a star of a popular sitcom, "Different Strokes," and had to sue his parents to keep them from spending all of his earnings.

After "Different Strokes" the acting jobs were few and far between, and Gary became a former child star, a category of humanity with its own special psychic torment.  One goes from television renown to cheap marketing gigs in small towns and podunks, for small pay.  One of his post-fame jobs was as a security guard. A former child actor is famous, not for who he is, but for who he used to be.  He or she is a has-been, with his best days behind him.  That's got to be hard to take.

I wish Gary's life could have been more successful and happier than it was.  Unfortunately, the cynical saying "life's a bitch and then you die" seems to sum it up for Gary.

Gary Coleman was 42 years old.  RIP, little buddy.

Kim Jong Il Blows His Stack

The North Koreans are at it again, acting like crazy bastards with hair-pin triggers.  First, they sink a South Korean Navy ship, killing 46 sailors.  Next, they threaten war if anyone tries to hold them accountable for their aggression.

At left is my Photoshop impression of Kim Jong Mentally-Ill.  Let's hope he only succeeds in blowing up himself.

Yellow Journalism: New York Daily News' Hit Piece on Pamela Geller

I noticed from sitemeter that most of my hits today are focused on a prior post that shows Pamela Geller in a bikini.  I wondered why until I went over to Atlas Shrugs and read this post:

HIT PIECE: NEW YORK DAILY NEWS DHIMMIS DOWN ON NYC BUS CAMPAIGN: FREEDOM BUSES HIT NYC

The Daily News article is very antagonistic towards Geller's advertising campaign on the sides of city buses in major cities.  The ad campaign is an outreach to Muslims planning to leave Islam, offering advice and support.  This is necessary to save lives, since Muslims have a nasty habit of murdering "apostates."

The Daily News article resorts to guilt-by-association and ad hominem attacks against Geller, referring to her as a "rabble rouser," "racy rightwinger," and "archconservative" with "Tea Party ties."  It is obvious that the unprofessional reporters who wrote this drivel are merely serving up red meat to their leftwing readers.  There is no pretense at objectivity.

The article refers to Geller appearing in a bikini in various posts and videos, and refers to her pose in a superman suit on her blog.  Obviously, if Geller is a beautiful, sexy woman she can't be taken seriously.

Other liberal rags that took this path (of brazenly biased partisanship) have failed and are on their way to bankruptcy.  See Newsweek, the New York Times, the Washington Post and the San Francisco Chronicle.  The general public is quite able to distinguish between a hit piece and legitimate journalism, and abandon such "news" outlets for more reliable and objective information.

In years past, such journalistic malfeasance was known as "yellow journalism."  Ironically, the practice began with two New York newspapers (per Oracle Thinkquest:):
Yellow journalism, in short, is biased opinion masquerading as objective fact. Moreover, the practice of yellow journalism involved sensationalism, distorted stories, and misleading images for the sole purpose of boosting newspaper sales and exciting public opinion. It was particularly indicative of two papers founded and popularized in the late 19th century- The New York World, run by Joseph Pulitzer and The New York Journal, run by William Randolph Hearst.

San Francisco Attorney Claims "an Affair with Barbara Boxer"

A South Carolina political blogger claimed he had an affair with Nikki Haley, the Tea Party pick for SC governor.  Some skeptics think the political blogger, Will Folks, just made the whole thing up to skewer Haley's chance for election.  After all, Will Folks is as ugly as a mud fence and Nikki Haley is a hot chick.

In your dreams, Will.

Now, however, we learn of a real, an actual controversy right here in San Francisco.  Psota, possibly the only conservative attorney in San Francisco, has revealed his multiple affairs with prominent Democrat women, including Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer.  Shocking!  And purely coincidental that Psota's revelations come so close to the re-election efforts of these brazen hussies.

Okay, I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I too had an affair with Barbara Boxer. When Babs and I had our inappropriate physical relationship (and dang, that whip really hurt), I called her "sugar-pie honey bun" while in the throes of passion. I was stunned when she replied, "Please call me Senator, I worked so hard for that designation."

Thanks for coming clean, Psota.  Do I hear Simon and Garfunkel singing in the background?  So here's to you, Mrs. Robinson....

Stogie News: Mexico, Music, and Morgan Hill

Stung by a Ten Pound Bee
Ugh, I developed bursitis this past week and it was very painful.  That is the reason for my lack of posting.

I wrenched my arm moving my bass amplifier upstairs, and a couple of weeks later bursitis was in full, throbbing pain mode.  Bursitis is a condition when little sacs of fluid (called bursae) between muscle and bone swell up.  It hurts like living hell.  Imagine getting a bee sting on your shoulder, but the bee was as big as a tennis ball and weighed 10 pounds.  The result of this was that I had to sleep sitting up for the past week, getting 2 or 3 hours of sleep per night.  Finally, I went to the doctor and he gave me some topical ointment that actually works, and some pain pills and today I feel much better.  I actually had eight hours of sleep last night, laying down, in an actual bed.  Kewl!

Playing Music with Mexicans in Morgan Hill
My band played at a private party, out in the open, in Morgan Hill last Sunday.  The weather was gorgeous, and since we practice every week we are, to use a term of art, very "tight."  Confident, self-assured and in key.  The lady who was having a birthday was Mexican and there were many Mexicans there, including two other bands, both of which sang their songs in Spanish.  We had shared practice space with one of these bands earlier in the week and became fast friends.  Most Mexicans are very nice people and have a beautiful culture, that no doubt would show its better aspects if the terrible Mexican government could be replaced with one that is pro business, efficient and free of corruption.  What Mexico needs most is REGIME CHANGE.

That being said, I still oppose illegal immigration without reservation.  Instead of applauding a Mexican president for attacking our national sovereignty, we should be pressuring him and other Mexican politicians to enact reforms that will increase Mexican prosperity and opportunity for its own citizens, who would then have less of a need to enter our country illegally.  Border fences and guards are necessary and needed, but they are only treating the symptoms of the disease.  Ultimately, the actual cause (Mexican poverty) must be solved to end the problem.  That doesn't mean us bailing them out or giving them boatloads of free money.  It means Mexicans themselves must find a way to prosper in their resources-rich country.  Hint:  it's spelled C-A-P-I-T-A-L-I-S-M.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox.

Let's Make THEM Die for Freedom

I can't speak for Facebook, but I can assure the morons in this picture, that I am not willing to die to insult the glorious prophet Mohammed.

However, I am perfectly willing to have hateful fanatics die for my privilege to do so.

So screw Mohammed and Islam, and remember this, you fanatics:  if you come for me, they will carry you out by the hands and feet.  I won't back down, now or ever.

As one American once said:  Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?

That Great Old Classic "Stand By Me"

This is the latest song my band has learned, "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King.  We played it for the first time last Sunday and the first try was already performance quality.

It starts off with a great bass part that repeats throughout the song, and I was able to figure it out from memory in just a few minutes.  We were all very pleased.

Here's Ben King singing his hit.  Enjoy.

Memories of Arizona

Many people know I am a California CPA.  However, I was an Arizona CPA before I was a California CPA.  Shortly after I graduated from college I went to Phoenix to work for a Big Four CPA firm, only then they were part of the Big Eight.  Through mergers and the demise of Arthur Anderson, the Big Eight became the Big Four.

I lived in Scottsdale with my parents and my two sons.  I was a single parent, fresh from divorce, and we all pulled together to survive.  Every morning I would drive to the Del Webb Townhouse (a business building) in downtown Phoenix, take the elevator to the 14th floor and start working.  My drive often took me right by Arizona State University in Tempe, where I would see the ASU Sun Devils football players scrimmaging.

I was really into politics even then.  I worked in Republican headquarters calling registered voters, urging them to vote for the GOP candidate for governor.  Strangely enough, he lost to the Democrat, a man of Mexican descent.  How's that for irony?

One evening when I was working in the headquarters, Barry Goldwater dropped by.  He was running for reelection as the U.S. Senator from Arizona.  I got to meet him and shake his hand.  Since he was one of our tax clients, I mentioned to him that I worked for his accounting firm.  "Oh yeah," he said, "they keep me out of jail!"  We laughed.  Goldwater was wearing a gray suit and black cowboy boots.  I'll never forget that.  He won reelection handily.  In the primary election for president I voted for Ronald Reagan against Gerald Ford. Reagan lost but I still have his campaign button, as shiny and new as they day I got it in downtown Phoenix.

That was all thirty years ago, but my Arizona CPA certificate still hangs on my wall here at home, right next to my California one.  Arizona is more than a news item to me.

Email from a Muslim and My Reply

I received the following email from Hina Naz, a Muslim in the U.K.

Hello, I would like to kno wat u have against muslims, u have no right 2 give such horrible comments about my religion islam, yes i am a muslim and i am ashamed that as a human being, let alone wat religion u follow, but as a human being u can b so stone hearted 2 do what u have on your website about the pictures of my beloved prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H) (Peace Be Upon Him), that is just wrong, on your account u have said dis-

"I don't care what color you are, if you're straight or gay, religious or atheist."

So y make fun of another religion, if u dont follow islam so it doesnt mean u have to criticise that religion and make horrible comments about it, well i belive in islam ,was born a muslim and i have just done Ummrah, i dont know if u know wat that is, if not, look it up! And i found the whole journey beautiful and life changing 4 me and my family, In future, dont u ever make fun of my religion Islam, u should do something better with your life rather than making fun and discriminating another religion.

All i can say is change now before it is too late for you, i dont know if u belive in God, but do change, stop this discriminating and vile comments what u have on your account, its disgusting and at the end of the day, we, each and every person on this planet have 2 go from here some day, mayb 2day, or 2mrw, or in the nxt 10 yrs, we all have 2 go, so i surgest that u stop acting like a rasist person and do something betta with ur time, dont waste time, it is very valuable, and belive me, u do not want 2 die a dogs death and suffer the graves punishment send my Allah, (God)

and on the day of judgement were all your good and bad deeds will be brought infront of God will be shown to everybody, from the 1st person who came on this earth and the last who came, will see eveything u have done, good or bad, u will have no where to hide, God is everywhere and do u want everybody 2 know what disgusting things u have been doin in your life, well do u? belive me, on the day of resurection, wen God decides were each person will go, Heaven or Hell, do u truly want to stay in Hell for the rest of your afterlife! because thats were were all gonna b staying 4ver! thats the real life!

This world were we are living now is not the real world, it is a test which we all r going through, wen we leave this world we want to make sure we have done good deeds 2 help us have a better life in the hereafter and God is not cruel, he will only punish those hu have done wrong or thoses who harm people in any way, e.g. making fun of my prophet and religion, very wrong! do u want 2 b punished 4 ur bad deeds? on the day of judgement u will be asked y u did this, and u wudnt know wat 2 say!!!

So, i hope i have hit a chord in u somewere 2 make u realise that what iv seen on your website is truly wrong, please do us all a favour and close that account and u get on with ur life and leave all muslims alone, if so, do something better, show the beauty of the religion islam instead of posting discriminating comments and piks which lead 2 thousands even millions of people cursing u and asking God 4 ur utter misery not only in this world but the hereafter also! So please, stop this hatered and get on with your life like a good human being, being a good follower of ur religion is 1 thing and being a good human being is another thing! Bare that inmind my friend and please, the nxt time i or any1 else goes on ur website i want all that rubbish off and see an improvemnt in urself, not 4 me, 4 ur self, 4 a betta life 4 ur self, 4 something u can b proud of, r u proud of wat uv been doing, think with ur head not ur heart! and i hope u absorb wat i have written and i hope u chnge, i cnt chnge 2, only 4self! Thank U and may God forgive ur sins, only if u chnge and delete them horrible things iv seen on your account, i cried wen i saw them, it hurt me alot and i was just godsmacked, really! I dont know wat more 2 say but remember-

God is Everywhere!!!!!!

My response:

Really?  You cried over cartoons?  Over satire?  I would say your sensibilities are seriously misplaced.

How did you feel about the 3,000 Americans murdered by Muslims on 9/11?  Did you cry then?  Many Muslims throughout the world celebrated in the streets and passed out candy.  How did you feel about the 334 people, 186 of them school children, murdered by Muslims in Beslan, Russia in 2004?  Did you cry then?  How did you feel when four Muslims murdered 173 people in Mumbai, India in 2008?  I'll bet you shed no tears whatsoever.  Then there was the Muslim bombings in London in 2005, in the U.K., where you live, killing 52 innocent people.  Did you feel any shame then at being a Muslim?  Do you think that God approved of the murders?  Did you weep for the dead?

In short, I hate your religion because it is evil, because it kills people (it has killed about 280 million people since your false prophet, Mohammed, created it); it oppresses people, especially women; and because it adds nothing at all good to the world or to humanity, and never has.  Let me spell it out for you:  Mohammed was a false prophet and there is no god named Allah.

My advice to you:  change your religion and leave this evil ideology.

Kevin Eubanks, Jay Leno's Guitar Player, Disses Kid From Arizona

Last night I stayed up to watch the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.  Leno asked various members of the audience to perform their own special tricks, i.e. whistling like a bird, clapping hands very fast, etc.  These performers were then judged by three men from the Tonght Show staff.  One of the judges was Kevin Eubanks, guitar player for the Tonight Show band.

Each judge could award a meal (i.e. a ticket for a free meal at a local restaurant) if they approved of the performance, or withhold a meal if they did not approve.

One 16 year old kid from Arizona was a soccer player.  His trick was to balance a soccer ball on the back of his neck while removing his jersey, without dislodging the soccer ball.  Two of the judges awarded the kid a meal based on his performance.  Not Kevin Eubanks.  He asked the kid, "Did you say you were from Arizona?"  The kid replied, "Yes."

Eubanks then told the kid he awarded "no meal" and began speaking to the kid in Spanish.  It was obvious the grandstanding Eubanks was punishing the kid for his state's stand on illegal immigration.

My conclusions:   Kevin Eubanks is a flaming jackass.

Pamela Geller "Owns" the Muslim Commentator on Sean Hannity Today

I just heard Pamela Geller debate a Muslim commentator on Sean Hannity's radio program today.  She was arguing against the planned construction of a super mosque near Ground Zero.  Geller spoke very well off the cuff, and was loaded with facts.

Pamela Geller is planning a protest rally at Ground Zero on June 6, the anniversary of D-Day, to protest the construction of this mosque.

Meanwhile, Debbie Schlussel's plan to stop the mosque is to continue her slander against Geller.

A Question for the Live Oak High School Hispanics

We are told that the Hispanic students at Live Oak High in Morgan Hill, California "want respect."

How much respect they get, however, depends on how they answer the following question:

Are you Americans of Mexican descent, or merely Mexicans living in America?

If it's the latter, you would probably get more respect and feel more at home living in Mexico.

The Pamela Geller - Debbie Schlussel Dust-up, As Explained by Lawrence Auster

Lawrence Auster of View from the Right writes to Saber Point to discuss the bad blood between Pamela Geller and Debbie Schlussel.

Stogie,

While reading your discussion about Debbie Schussel I came upon a link to Schlussel's November 2009 post in which she attacked Pamela Geller for inviting Patricia Said, the mother of the two girls slain by their father in an honor killing in Texas in 2008, to speak at a pro-Rifqa Bary demo in NYC last November 16. Schlussel pointed out that two months earlier (September 2009) Geller had said that Patricia Said belonged in jail, yet now she was inviting her to be a speaker. Schlussel said she wrote to Geller asking her why she was doing this, and Geller didn't reply:
Instead of answering my question, Pamela ignored it and covered her ass–choosing to deceive readers of her Atlas Shrugs website with creative editing and removing Patricia Said’s name and changing it to “honor killing victims’ family members.” (It should have read “co-conspirators in honor killings.) But Said will be there, courtesy of Pamela, who organized the rally and paid for Tissie Said’s travel to and lodging for the event. But, hey, Pamela told third parties that it will be “powerful.” Riiiight. Perhaps, after reading this, at the last minute Pamela–to save face, but not because she’s discovering anything she didn’t know well–will ask Said not to speak. But don’t be fooled. Less than two months after calling this woman a “co-murderer” and saying she should be in jail, Pamela invited her to the event.
I wondered what the truth was about this and whether Geller had ever explained what was going on. So I did some searching at Geller's site. In the thread posted just before the November 16 demo took place, commenters raised the issue of Schlussel's accusation, and Geller answered in a laconic and uninformative manner:
Patricia Said was not at the rally. When I spoke with her, I found her story to be deceptive. She was not there.
Given the seriousness of the underlying facts, that two months after calling Patricia Said a "murderous mom" who "deserves jail" Geller included her on the roster of speakers at a Geller-organized demonstration, Geller needed to provide a better explanation than that.

Then in a thread at Atlas Shrugs posted after the demonstration, commenters again repeated Schlussel's charges, and finally Geller gave a fuller explanation:
Don't come on my site and call me liar. There are scummy ponds on the web where you would feel more in your element. Not here.

Tissy contacted me before I went to Texas. She wanted to repent. She'd had one story for two years. And I have excoriated her mercilessly for complicity and submission to Yaser. When she broke with Yaser's family and the rest of his rat pack and said she failed the girls, she wanted to repent. I gave her a hearing.

Of course I was interested. She might have cast light on Muslim tyranny in the home. What goes on in situations where Muslim predator men like Yaser look for borderline mentally challenged girls of 15 years of age, not attractive and pathetic like Tissy.

It might have helped Rifqa, if a high profile Honor killer/mom came clean on Islam.

After vetting her story I thought she was deceptive and did not have her speak. No biggie.

But these trolls keep obsessing about something that never happened and ignore the magnificent event that took place today. DS knows none of the backstory. None.

That Schlussel is taking off on this righteous rally and belching her special brand of hate all over it says more about her than it does about anybody else in this pathetic losers charade.

She is what my bubbie would call a "nishfuginnuh"

The bottom line is Tissy was a non-story. The big story was the wonderful rally for Rifqa with hundreds (200-300) of great people, that came from all over the standing, fighting for her freedom of religion. Now that's a big deal. Halivay!

No second hander is going to drive a fallacious narrative into the gutter where apparently they appear most comfortable.

Posted by: Pamela Geller Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 01:03 AM
Geller's explanation helps clear things up, but her abusive tone to the people accusing her conceals the fact that she herself allowed the story to hang out there by ignoring Schlussel's criticisms and refusing to tell why she had invited Patricia Said to be a speaker.

Geller writes:
After vetting her story I thought she was deceptive and did not have her speak. No biggie.

But these trolls keep obsessing about something that never happened and ignore the magnificent event that took place today. DS knows none of the backstory. None.
But something did happen. Geller invited a woman she had called a murderer who "deserves jail" to be a speaker at Geller's demonstration. Having refused to explain this odd and troubling behavior until after the demonstration took place, she then accused people who had perfectly rational concerns about the matter of being "trolls" who "keep obsessing about something that never happened." It didn't occur to her that if she had explained the matter earlier, those "trolls" wouldn't have been obsessing about it.

My conclusion: While Schlussel is an unstable and often irrational individual, the concerns she raised in this instance were rational and valid, and Geller, by refusing to provide any kind of explanation between November 1, when she posted Patricia Said's name as a speaker at the demo, until after the demo had taken place on November 16, helped fuel the suspicions and bad feelings instead of clearing them up. Part of the problem may be that Schlussel has so discredited herself with her numerous false accusations that people tend to ignore her even when she is making valid points. Another part of the problem is that Geller is so egotistical and unreflective that it never occurred to her that she needed to explain why she had invited Patricia Said.

Lawrence Auster

Stogie responds:

Thanks for explaining the argument between Debbie Schlussel and Pamela Geller.  I knew that Schlussel had attacked Geller but didn't know the back story; now I do.  My comments are below.

If it has been reliably determined that Patricia Said was an accomplice in the murder of her two daughters, then Schlussel has a strong point:  Patricia Said should never have been invited to speak at the rally under any circumstances.  However, Said has not been charged with any crimes so it appears unlikely that the police consider her an accomplice.

Geller could have looked into the matter and simply changed her mind about Said's involvement based on better information.  At that point, Geller stated that she thought having a Muslim mom, whose daughters were murdered by their father, could provide powerful testimony against honor killings.  As Geller stated, her intention was to prevent future honor killings by having a Muslim mother speak on the subject.  That is a very honorable motive in my mind.

Geller then interviewed Said and decided against having her appear, based on that interview.  I don't see anything unreasonable in Geller's actions or decisions on the matter, but yes, she undoubtedly should have refrained from publishing Said's planned appearance until after Said had been properly vetted, and should have clearly explained her thinking when challenged by Schlussel.

Nevertheless, let us look at the motivations of the two women:
Pamela Geller:  sought to prevent future honor killings
Debbie Schlussel:  sought only to embarrass Pamela Geller
Stogie's Conclusions:
In the end, I must conclude that Schlussel sought not to make any valid points about Geller, but merely to undermine yet another conservative who is more successful than she is.  Geller 1, Schlussel 0.

Helping Debbie Schlussel Find Unauthorized Use of Her "Copyrighted" Photo

Now Debbie Schlussel has issued an ominous "cease and desist" email to Bob Belvedere, telling him that she will get Word Press to delete his whole blog for using her ancient, out-of-date glamor photo without her permission.

Well then, I wonder why Debbie hasn't had this Word Press blog deleted?

And here it is again at a Blogger blog.

And again at yet another Word Press site.  I guess Word Press just hasn't gotten around to deleting the site yet, hey Debbie?

And yet again.  I notice they included a picture of Rosie O'Donnell as another Debbie Schlussel pic.  The mistake is understandable.  O'Donnell is chubby, obnoxious and hates many prominent conservatives..TOO.

Still another one of those "copyrighted" photos.  [Owner, in response to this post, deleted the photo, calling Debbie a "crazy-assed Jew."  Tsk tsk, she is indeed crazy-assed but her Jewishness is irrelevant to this discussion.]

Another one??  Debbie, you aren't doing a very good job of policing your "copyrighted" photo.

And (yawn) still another.

So Debbie, if you sue someone for using your picture without your permission, what do you think the judge would say to all of these "copyrighted" pics all over the net?

Like many attorneys, you're just a little bully....who likes to push people around.

Debbie Schlussel: a Study in Strange Behavior

Once upon a time, Debbie Schlussel was a very big deal in the conservative movement.  She wrote articles for World Net Daily.  She appeared on CNN and Fox News to discuss the news of the day.  She posed for a picture with mega-star Sean Hannity, wearing a skin-tight dress that really showed off her ta-tas.  She wrote articles that were published in the New York Post, the Washington Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Jerusalem Post.  She even had (and still does) her own page on Wikipedia.

But that was back in 2001 - 2006.  Since then, Schlussel's outrageous smears against other conservatives have lessened her credibility considerably.

One of the biggest targets of her invective is Sean Hannity, who has both a television show and a radio talk show.  Schlussel has accused both Sean Hannity and Oliver North of "scamming troops with Freedom Alliance."

World Net Daily reports Debbie's smear:
Yesterday, she charged, "For the last several years, Sean Hannity and the Freedom Alliance 'charity' have conducted 'Freedom Concerts' across America. They've told you that they are raising money to pay for the college tuition of the children of fallen soldiers and to pay severely wounded war vets. … But it's all a huge scam.
Freedom Alliance described Schlussel's comments as "false and malicious."  World Net Daily thoroughly rebuts Debbie Schlussel's smears.  Read it here.

Schlussel seems obsessed with "scams" and sees fraud and abuse everywhere.  Her long list of accusations include the following:
  • When she lost a Michigan congressional race to Barbara Dodd, she accused Dodd (and the judge who ruled on the issue) of "voter fraud."
  • This week she referred to popular conservative blogger Pamela Geller as "Scamela Geller"
  • Accused Sean Hannity of plagiarizing material from her website and misusing funds from a charity
  • Accused John Corsi (author of "Unfit for Command") of plagiarizing material from her World Net Daily column
  • Accused the Los Angeles Times of plagiarizing her work
  • Accused Lawrence Auster of "View From the Right" of "approving intellectual property theft" when he ran a blog entry about a World Net Daily article (see Lawrence Auster's telling description of Schlussel's strange and hostile behavior:  "Debbie Schlussel's Demented Attack on Me")
  • Accused Alan Dershowitz, noted lawyer and Harvard professor of law, of "shamelessly plagiarizing" another author in his book, The Case for Israel (Former Harvard president Derek Bok reviewed the charge and found that no plagiarism had occurred).
I'm sure I could find more material on the internet about Schlussel's long and paranoid campaign against nearly everyone.  But you get the idea.

I like Lawrence Auster's conclusions about Debbie, as they mirror my own.  In response to her angry accusations of plagiarism of Little Green Footballs by World Net Daily, Auster corrected her, which only angered her more.  Puzzled by her anger, Auster wrote:
Also, I have linked and approvingly quoted you on several occasions. Why are you attacking me like this and needlessly generating hostility between us?
No doubt many a conservative author and pundit could ask that question.  Why is she hostile and attacking of so many who used to be her allies and friends?  Only her shrink knows for sure (and Debbie, if you don't have one, get the yellow pages out and find one.  Fast.)

Auster concludes his article on Schlussel:
I didn't hear back from Schlussel. All I can say is, based on her intemperate and insulting attacks on me, and her apparent total inability to grasp the simple fact that WND had not inappropriately copied or lifted anything from LGF, I would not credit Schlussel's judgment and objectivity on any matter. I had approvingly quoted her articles in the past. I will not do so again.
The same goes for me.  I have approvingly quoted her articles in the past, but I will not do so again.  I still have her link in my "A List," but will now include a warning to readers.

Debbie Schlussel's strange behavior continues to puzzle.  She acts, not like a person who wants to succeed, but someone who wants to fail.  She is burning bridges faster than a retreating army, destroying all prior goodwill towards her and turning former allies into enemies.

In other words, Debbie has become Charles Johnson in drag.

Update:  The link to "Debbie Schlussel's Demented Attack on Me," by Lawrence Auster, has been fixed.  Do read his article, it is an excellent example of Schlussel's behavior.

Lawrence Auster of "View From the Right" writes Saber Point and says:
Hi, I see Schlussel goes on. I was not aware that she had been on TV, and had published at WSJ, etc. Thanks for linking that old piece of mine. I've been attacked for a lot of things, but to be attacked as a dishonest person, a person without intellectual conscience, because of something that some other website did, was a unique experience, like being beaten up in an alley way. Also, it never occurred to her to write to me and apologize. I didn't post my exchange with her until a year after it occurred. I certainly gave her ample chance to return to her senses.

Debbie Demento (aka Debbie Schlussel) Threatens Saber Point

Debby Demento sent me an email threatening me with legal action for using her "copyrighted photo" in an editorial comment, which of course, is "fair use" and therefore not protected by the copyright law.

It appears she has threatened other bloggers before for using the same photo.  For instance, see "Radioactive Liberty," which used the same photo then dared her to sue them.  Do see her pictures at the link above, in which Radioactive Liberty captioned the photos with some unflattering labels.

Debbie has been so busy making enemies that it is no wonder she has been the subject of some unflattering commentary on the web.

Debbie can dish it out but isn't so enthusiastic about return fire.

Left Wing Propaganda Rag Celebrates the Economic "Recovery" by Going Broke!

I was delighted to hear that this rag is going under.  Well, it is up for sale and bleeding red ink, so it probably will go under if some sucker doesn't buy it.

I became aware of this mag a couple years back when I went to the dentist.  Sitting in the waiting room, I picked up a copy and browsed through it.  It was literally a caricature of left wing bias; there was nothing subtle about it.  It even had a photograph of George Bush smiling at the camera with the caption "What Me Worry?"  The photo was part of a "serious" article about the war in Iraq.  Sorry, Newsweak, there is already a Mad Magazine and it actually makes money.

Extra, Extra!  Read all about it!

Is Debbie Schlussel Just Plain Nuts?

Debbie Schlussel, allegedly a Jewish conservative, is a very angry woman.  An awful lot of her anger is directed at other conservatives.  Much of her criticism is valid, e.g., criticizing Sarah Palin for endorsing RINO Carly Fiorina, but she goes too far.  Her criticisms quickly become insulting, ad hominem, potentially libelous attacks wherein she demonizes the conservative who has attracted her wrath.  Taking a page from the Left, Debby seeks not to correct erring conservatives, but to destroy them completely.

Today she has a column "That's Conservative?" where she describes Sarah Palin as "empty vesselette in a skirt," "the Palin Idiotette," "Palinmessiah" and "vapidette."  Schlussel refers to Sarah Palin supporters as "Palinmessiahteapartybots," "Sarahbots" and "Sarahmentalslaves."  She says of them:
Nope, the gushing  followers of Sarah Palin won’t care about any of this.  Because everything Sarah Palin–America’s most selfish and piggish woman (not to mention, likely the most airheaded)–does is magical and genius.  She turns our streets into cotton candy and lollipops.
Apparently not satisfied with insulting a large group of conservative activists, Debbie attacks popular blogger and author Pamela Geller, another supporter of Palin:
BTW, this should be a lesson for you regarding frauds like Scamela Geller, the car loan fraud scammer, who takes money from Sarah Palin’s PAC for ads and who repeatedly gush over this vapidette.  They claim to be against Iran and Ahmadinejad, against Jesse Jackson, and against illegal alien amnesty.  But the bottom  line is–like Sarah Palin–they really aren’t.
Schlussel has been on an anti-Hannity tear for some time, calling him "Sean Vanity" and accusing him of fiscal and other improprieties.

So what's up with Debbie?  She is a very angry woman who seems on the verge of some kind of breakdown.  I doubt that shooting herself in the foot, however, will bring about a cure.  I suspect that she is professionally jealous of conservatives far more successful than she is, in a way similar to Michael Savage's angry jealousies of a couple years back.

Debbie Schlussel has lost enormous credibility with me.  Since she likes to call other people cute names, I will afford her the same honor.  I hereby designate Debbie Schlussel to be known hereafter as "Debbie Demento."

With friends like Debby Demento, you don't need enemies.

UPDATE:  Debby Demento sent me an email threatening me with legal action for using her very flattering "copyrighted photo," so I have replaced it with another one that is far less flattering (she looks quite fat in the replacement photo above).  She is, of course, full of bovine excrement, since the use of the first photo clearly falls in the "fair use" doctrine of the copyright law.  However, I will comply with a photo that she clearly does not own and which probably shows her as she really looks in everyday life, which is not very flattering.

Live Oak High School and Firestorm Over the Flag

Morgan Hill is only about 15 miles from my home.  I worked there for a year and a half, for a Morgan Hill CPA firm. I love that little town, with its quaint main street lined with small shops, cafes, a movie theater and a music store.  Morgan Hill is also home to the Thomas Kincaid Company, whose prints of Thomas Kincaid paintings are so popular with Christians.  We have several of them hanging on our walls.

My favorite cigar store is located there, the Morgan Hill Tobacco Company, where I buy most of my cigars.  They serve some great beers there, too.  My favorite is a German wheat beer.  You can sit around the tables and puff cigars and sip beer and banter with other customers, most of whom are conservatives.

Morgan Hill is the home of Live Oak High School, which has been a football power in the past, winning the CCS championship once or twice.  On May 5th of this week, however, some school official ignited a firestorm when he ordered three students to remove their t shirts, which bore American flags.  It was, after all, Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday, and the official believed the Hispanic students would be offended.  Offended by the American flag.  In America.  Those of us who have long feared that political correctness and identity-based politics would lead to a balkanization of America need fear no more:  it is a reality.

The school official asked the boys to remove their t shirts or turn them inside out. The three students, unlike the Live Oak High School administration, have actual functioning gonads:  they refused, and were sent home instead.  Their story was picked up by local media and soon went viral over the internet.  Michelle Malkin gave it legs.

On Thursday, Mexican students took advantage of the situation to shoot themselves in both feet.  According to Bay Area News:
On Thursday, about 200 Mexican-American students walked out of class in protest of the flag clothing incident. Members of the group waved the Mexican flag and said they were marching for respect and unity. They  also demanded the school suspend the boys who wore the U.S. flag-adorned clothing.
Today, Friday, however, the backlash is in full swing and the Live Oak administrators are trying desperately to stop the firestorm that they created.  The school superintendent sent a letter to parents stating that the boys will NOT be suspended, and that patriotic clothing is allowed at Live Oak High.  Thanks a bunch.

Meanwhile, some Live Oak parents are keeping their kids home from school.

What this incident has shown is this:  many people of Mexican descent who live in the United States do not identify with their host country, refuse assimilation and are hostile to it.  I only wish that California would pass a law similar to that of Arizona.  Then the reconquistadors can protest all the way back to Mexico on a one-way bus.

Sarah Palin Endorses RINO Carly Fiorina for the Senate

Psota, a San Francisco based attorney, has written a great post on Palin's endorsement of Fiorina.

Carly Fiorina is a RINO, as Psota points out. I voted for Schwarzenegger twice and lived to regret it. I won't vote for another RINO.

Been there done that.

Simon Cowell Sounding Like a Conservative

Simon Cowell, the fierce judge of American Idol, wrote an article this week for the U.K. Sun, expressing a belief in conservative principles.  Cowell says British laws are too restrictive on business, that Brits must begin paying down the national debt, and that family values are important.

He also prefers David Cameron to Gordon Brown.

T Shirt Vendor Saves Times Square From Terrorist Bomb

Another common man steps out of the crowd to save the day (hat tip:  Theodore's World).  The New York Daily News reports:
The T-shirt vendor - a Vietnam vet - told Officer Wayne Rhatigan there was smoke coming from a Nissan SUV on the southwest corner of 45th St. and Broadway about 7 p.m., sources said.
Rhatigan approached the car, saw the smoke, and sprang into action.
"I did a lap around the vehicle. The inside was smoking," Rhatigan told the Daily News Saturday night. "I smelled gunpowder and knew it might blow. I thought it might blow any second."
He grabbed two rookie female cops patrolling the area. Together, they pushed hundreds of people away from the scene as they called for backup, he said.
The Fire Department and bomb squad rushed to the scene.
What they found was an SUV with two jugs of gasoline and three canisters of propane wired up to a gunpowder charge. The would-be terrorist started the contraption, but it did not explode, only started smoking.  He fled the scene as police arrived and is still at large.

Mark Steyn at the Corner notes that the U.K. Telegraph was the first publication to note the parking place of the SUV:
The dark green Nissan Pathfinder with tinted windows was parked near the junction of 45th Street and Broadway.
The location is also adjacent to the Viacom building, fuelling speculation that it might be linked to the company's controversial South Park cartoon which recently depicted Prophet Muhammad in a bear suit.
So was this latest act of terrorism Islamic in nature? We won't know for sure until the police gather more evidence.  If the perpetrator turns out to be a Muslim, then we will have survived another of many attempts by Muslims to commit domestic terrorism since 9/11.  What should we do about it?

I for one subscribe to the Laurence Auster solution:  stop all Islamic immigration into the west and encourage those already here to leave.

Meanwhile, readers continue to send me their depictions of Islam's bloody prophet, and they will be published en masse on May 20 as planned.
