Also, articles I read said that distracting yourself if a good strategy too -- as in ignoring the attack. I think understanding the mechanism of panic attacks undoubtedly helps to deal with them and perhaps even prevent them.Stogie Chomperhttp://saberpoint.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22117033.post-28594566657887391552012-12-28T11:00:13.551-08:002012-12-28T11:00:13.551-08:00Take a nap!!! I've ...Ugh! You poor guy. I'm sorry...

I've never had a full blown panic attack, but I used to regularly have anxiety attacks (Generalized anxiety disorder.) Many years ago I took Prozac for about a year and then tapered off. I still had anxiety attacks. Then, for some completely unknown reason, they stopped. I'm glad.

I occasionally can feel one coming on by the tightening in my chest and I've chosen to ignore it - sort of like ignoring an unruly child. It seems to work.

As to your update? You're on the right track. Panic attacks occur when a huge load of adrenaline is dumped into your body. Look up vitamins to supplement your adrenal health.Adriennehttp://adriennescatholiccorner.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22117033.post-63141102472334200482012-12-28T10:51:04.346-08:002012-12-28T10:51:04.346-08:00Rick is right. In fact, one site said they are the most effective countermeasure. The attack stopped and I was able to go back to bed and get some sleep. However, I think I will be sleep deprived today since that panic attack kept me up last night.Stogie Chomperhttp://saberpoint.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22117033.post-14902190643494803092012-12-28T09:23:02.907-08:002012-12-28T09:23:02.907-08:00Thanks, I will do that. Thanks, I will do that.Stogie Chomperhttp://saberpoint.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22117033.post-80461438050092177692012-12-28T06:12:09.020-08:002012-12-28T06:12:09.020-08:00Work with a specialist physician.
