D-DAY REMEMBERED: 68 YEARS AGO TODAY

I created this image from an actual modern photograph of Omaha Beach, with overlaid figures of actual American soldiers who landed there 68 years ago today. D-Day was one of the bloodiest and costliest battles in American war history. We should never forget those who died there.

  1. Very moving.

I worry that with no acknowledgement from that guy in charge, D-Day will become one of those obscure dates in our history.

And I think Obama (that guy in charge) would like us to forget what we can accomplish with spirit and courage.

    Again, very moving.
    Good job!

  2. This just shows how much the United States has changed. Whilst in the past events from the 18th century were honoured and cherished, today there is little that unites or ties Americans, divided as they are by background. As someone who would choose Obama over Romney, I find this decision to ignore the D-Day anniversary deplorable and with incredulity. But then, the first thing President Obama did upon entering the Oval Office was to summon the British ambassador to take back the bust of Churchill.
By the way, I like your graphic. I'm doing the same kind of thing by Photoshopping sites here in Germany then and now at my site Traces of Evil.

  3. Oh, Stogie! Your graphic brought tears to my eyes -- the eyes of a tough ol' broad.

  4. Keri, thanks for your comments. I was appalled that Obama got rid of the bust of Churchill, one of the greatest statesmen of the 20th Century.

  5. AOW, thanks so much. I was actually inspired by your D-Day posting to do one of my own. I never know how my graphics are received, so your feedback is valuable.

You were inspired by my post? Wow. I did it in quite a rush. So much always going on here in this household.
