Carol at No Sheeples Here has been blogging up a storm, writing numerous posts honoring the memory of victims of 9/11. While reading her many posts, I was struck by the reality of that terrible day: the 2,996 people who were killed were not merely statistics. They were real people, with lives, careers, loved ones, hopes and dreams. They were you and they were me. On that day they went to work and never came home.
Eight years have passed but those who perished are not forgotten. Let us remember today what happened on September 11, 2001 and why. Almost 3,000 people were murdered in the worst ever terrorist attack on American soil. An evil despotism continues to exist that will add to its toll of victims if we let down our guard.
Let us never forget.
