Online discussions about the motives of Bryan Kohberger, if he is indeed the killer of the four Idaho college students, are ongoing. They say that the absence of a known motive is not enough to prevent a guilty verdict. No motive regarding Kohberger has been described. The absence of a discernible motive didn't help Ted Bundy, who after his conviction on one murder, eventually confessed to over 30 murders of young women. Why do serial killers murder innocent people that they do not even know?
It seems such people lack something in their brains, something that prevents any empathy for their victims. That, plus a very sick sexual fantasy that gives them a high when they dispose of human lives. Perhaps these murders are simply thrill killings.
