The pro-American French blog Support American Soldiers pays tribute to the American military. They ran the two pictures immediately below. The first is most appropriate for Memorial Day, as it honors a fallen soldier.
These French allies of Support American Soldiers remind me of the spirit of the Marquis de Lafayette, who was a friend of General Washington, and whose support of the American Revolution preserved its success.
The Second Photo below shows American troops in St. Mere Eglise, France, after parachuting there during the invasion of Normandy in 1944. Perhaps they, like World War I American soldiers in France, shouted "Lafayette, Nous Voici!" (Lafayette, we are here.)
