Helping Debbie Schlussel Find Unauthorized Use of Her "Copyrighted" Photo

Now Debbie Schlussel has issued an ominous "cease and desist" email to Bob Belvedere, telling him that she will get Word Press to delete his whole blog for using her ancient, out-of-date glamor photo without her permission.

Well then, I wonder why Debbie hasn't had this Word Press blog deleted?

And here it is again at a Blogger blog.

And again at yet another Word Press site.  I guess Word Press just hasn't gotten around to deleting the site yet, hey Debbie?

And yet again.  I notice they included a picture of Rosie O'Donnell as another Debbie Schlussel pic.  The mistake is understandable.  O'Donnell is chubby, obnoxious and hates many prominent conservatives..TOO.

Still another one of those "copyrighted" photos.  [Owner, in response to this post, deleted the photo, calling Debbie a "crazy-assed Jew."  Tsk tsk, she is indeed crazy-assed but her Jewishness is irrelevant to this discussion.]

Another one??  Debbie, you aren't doing a very good job of policing your "copyrighted" photo.

And (yawn) still another.

So Debbie, if you sue someone for using your picture without your permission, what do you think the judge would say to all of these "copyrighted" pics all over the net?

Like many attorneys, you're just a little bully....who likes to push people around.

Debbie Demento (aka Debbie Schlussel) Threatens Saber Point

Debby Demento sent me an email threatening me with legal action for using her "copyrighted photo" in an editorial comment, which of course, is "fair use" and therefore not protected by the copyright law.

It appears she has threatened other bloggers before for using the same photo.  For instance, see "Radioactive Liberty," which used the same photo then dared her to sue them.  Do see her pictures at the link above, in which Radioactive Liberty captioned the photos with some unflattering labels.

Debbie has been so busy making enemies that it is no wonder she has been the subject of some unflattering commentary on the web.

Debbie can dish it out but isn't so enthusiastic about return fire.

Associated Press Billing Bloggers for Quotes

The Associated Press has started billing bloggers for quoting excerpts of its news stories on blogs. The AP is demanding $2.50 a word, even for excerpts, which appear to clearly fall within the "fair use" rules. As a consequence, word is going out through the blogosphere to boycott AP stories. For our own protection, it's a good idea.

The idiotic AP doesn't seem to realize that by excerpting their news stories and supplying a link to the news site, bloggers are doing them a favor. Such activity merely directs much more attention and readers to the AP story and the AP approved news site. In the process, the news site's sponsors get a lot more bang for their advertising dollar. How is that a bad thing??

I am not going to go back through hundreds of posts to find previously excerpted AP material. However, I do not plan on excerpting any in the future.

Join the boycott of the Associated Press.
