From Fox News:
A group of New York City atheists is demanding that the city remove a street sign honoring seven firefighters killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks because they said the sign violates the separation of church and state.Bronstein is really insulting to me and to many others, so atheism should be banned, as this philosophy is a violation of the First Amendment. No? Well now, my interpretation is no less extreme than that of the atheist left who has utterly corrupted the intent of the Founding Fathers when they banned "official" or state-sponsored religions. There was never any intent to ban references to religion from the public domain. This is an extreme position that liberal judges have wrongfully forced on the populace in many court cases.
The street, “Seven in Heaven Way,” was officially dedicated last weekend in Brooklyn outside the firehouse where the firefighters once served. The ceremony was attended by dozens of firefighters, city leaders and widows of the fallen men.
“There should be no signage or displays of religious nature in the public domain,” said Ken Bronstein, president of New York City Atheists. “It’s really insulting to us.”

Not all atheists are assholes, but many are.
Those who are seem to be "atheists" not so much because of anything they actually believe (or don't believe) but because they are simply angry about their religious upbringing, about their Father abandoning them, or something like that. Whatever it is, they are angry.
This is evidence by their INSISTENCE that they know, FOR SURE, there is no God.
Never mind that it is illogical to believe one can prove a negative. They INSIST there is no God.
When one relentlessly argues a point, even when their argument is irrefutably illogical, one is doing so out of faith. And, when one is arguing that people should not have faith, yet they are arguing, based upon faith, that there is no God, that seems to lead to even more anger.
"Atheists", by which I mean Absolutist Atheists, are among the angriest people I have ever encountered.
Run of the mill Atheists, or non-believers, or Agnostics, seem to be as normal as anyone else.
Good points, Pas. Run of the mill atheists or agnostics, however, don't form societies or sue people who have a different opinion.
My stepfather-in-law is a "militant" atheist. However, we decided long ago, for my mother-in-law's sake, not to discuss the topic of religion. He is devoted to my mother-in-law, who is suffering from Stage 7 Alzheimer's, so we're grateful for him. If he's an asshole, he's decided not to show his ass in our presence.
"Militant" believers believe so strongly in their dogma that they wrongly assume it should be obvious to everyone. They seem to assume that the human brain is omniscient, and that anything not easily detected with our five physical senses does not exist.
It's not that Atheists are evil or anything...the ones you see are like the fundamental Christians. They do what they do in the name of their faith and don't do justice for their side.
Christians aren't hated because there are plenty of good acts done in the name of Christianity to balance out the bad ones. This are sometimes as simple as basic community service.
There are good Atheists too. They do good deeds. But the good Atheists just aren't concerned. They don't care for religion or Atheism. They're just Atheists because they don't believe in a God and that's it. And these people don't do deeds in the name of Atheism so Atheism as a whole isn't really credited with anything good done in its name.
Before I really got to know any atheists, I was indifferent to them. Who cares about what they believe, it's not my business to judge them right? Well after getting to know a lot of them and spending a lot of time on the internet, I realized that nearly EVERY ATHEIST is a total asshole
Well said, AP. Atheists seem to think their negative faith is enlightenment and all who disagree are ignorant fools.
One thing is for certain; if everyone lived a true christian life, the world would be a perfect place.
The problem is not with atheists but with people like you who insult people you don't even know without having a firm grip on the issue. I suggest you read the following article so you understand that atheists are actually trying to protect your religious rights, not take them away: https://www.facebook.com/notes/massdelusion/are-atheists-assholes/321648304617418
Wrong, Art. Atheists are indeed trying to take away our religious rights, by distorting the Constitution's original intent and meaning. Anyone should be able to profess his religion in the public square, whether they be Buddhists, Christians, Jews, Hindus, etc. Atheists are moral thugs who wish to enforce their viewpoint on the population as a whole.
I'm an atheist, but I want nothing to do with the atheist movement. If you dare to disagree with them, they'll act like a total asshole to you. A perfect example of the asshole atheist would be yukithemeddler.
