Saber Point Gets One Million Hits!

Today I passed the one million hit mark.  I did it without following Stacy McCain's program, though his program has some very good tactics for bringing in visitors.  There is no doubt that a bit of cheesecake brings in a lot of hits.  I don't follow Rule 5 Saturdays, but I have occasionally posted something salacious, and those posts are top attractions for this blog.  Yes, it is very satisfying to write a well-written, researched post, and then see all of your visitors are passing it up to look at Barack Obama's mother in the nude.  Arrgh!

Saber Point Hits Almost to a Million!

Right now my hit counter shows over 990,000 hits.  It takes about a week to ten days for me to accumulate ten thousand hits, so I should join the million hits club very soon!

Changes to Saber Point

I recently changed my banner.  I just got bored with the same old thing.  Hope you like it.

I also changed my commenting system to Disqus.  Let me know if you have any problems accessing the commenting section and leaving comments.

Using a commenting system other than blogger's can be dangerous.  A couple of years back I changed my commenting system, which increased its price tenfold after one year.  I ditched it, but in the process lost hundreds of comments, some of which represented long debates and useful discussions.  I have Disqus working in tandem with blogger, so if I stop using Disqus, I should still retain all comments.

Please try out the Disqus commenting system and let me know of any problems, at stogiechomper "at" gmail.com.

Thanks to all who have donated to Saber Point since yesterday.  The donations have ranged between $5 and $150, and I am indeed grateful.

It is in times like these that you know who your friends are.  The conservative blogosphere is pretty special and have proved it to me personally.  I am humbled and gratified by your generosity.  Many thanks to Smitty and the Other McCain, to Old Rebel and others.

I know that some of the donors are themselves struggling with these hard times, yet they donated what they could.  As I told one donor, your contribution does good to my soul even more than it does to my bank account.

In good times I have donated to blogs I read, too, and I will do so again.  Sometime after November, I suspect.

Meanwhile, I will gladly provide graphic art or blog help to any donor who desires it.  Send me a scan of an old family photograph that is wrinkled, torn or otherwise damaged, and I will restore it for you.  If you have a blog, let me know if you need a banner or ad for your sidebar, or an original banner for your blog.  If you need an avatar, I can create one of those too.  Just let me know.  You were there for me, I am also here for you.

An Update to Saber Point's Banner

Today I updated my blog banner. I found a saber I liked better and used Photoshop to impart the shiny metal of a saber blade to the words "Saber Point." On the rightmost side of the banner I added a cavalryman on horseback. He may not be visible to those with smaller screens.
