More Proof That the Democrats Ruined the Economy

Jim Yardley at American Thinker gives more details on the Democrat melt-down of 2008, including a graph of real estate prices.  Yardley explains how the subprime mortgage fiasco, which was forced on banks and morgage companies, and the graph shows the resulting spike in home prices that resulted.  Yardley writes:
Claims of racial discrimination were frequently aimed at banks in the mid-1990s by community activists who, through judicial actions or by producing demonstrations by irate citizens, embarrassed banks into lowering their lending requirements to the point where, in common parlance, banks began issuing "sub-prime" mortgages. In an effort to both protect the financial integrity of local community banks and provide access to enormous amounts of cash for mortgages, Congress instructed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to purchase such mortgages from the original lender, returning the original lender to his original state of liquidity.
Fannie and Freddie then offered institutions such as Lehman Brothers and other major Wall Street firms a chance to "bundle" these mortgages and sell derivative securities, with their value basis predicated on such bundles.
More about the Democrat-engineered meltdown can be read in Mark Levin's book, "Liberty and Tyranny" and in Thomas E. Wood's book, "Meltdown."

The meltdown not only wrecked the economy, it provided the duplicitous mass media and the Democratic Party an opportunity to benefit from their own misdeeds.  The bubble burst in the last few months of George Bush's presidency.  In an extraordinary display of bad faith, the Democrats then blamed the meltdown on a lack of governmental oversight, the machinations of Wall Street and the Republican policies of George W. Bush.

Obama's War on Private Enterprise

If you have a business, do you expand, offer new product lines, hire more people?

It largely depends on whether the economy is growing or shrinking, whether the president and his cabinet believe in free enterprise or see it as an enemy to be defeated. If the latter, businesses will hold off on expansion until conditions are more favorable.

Barack Obama is seen more and more as a president who hates private enterprise, sees the profit motive as evil and business as something to thwart. Ed Lasky, writing in the American Thinker today, quotes Obama's line from "Dreams From My Father": that while he was employed in the private sector, Obama felt like he was "a spy behind enemy lines."

This kind of insane thinking is common on the left. Business is the enemy.  So those who want consumer goods, e.g. appliances, homes, cars, clothes, food, furniture etc are forced to deal with this "enemy."  Well the enemy is definitely in retreat, General Obama.  Business is producing a lot less of these goodies nowadays, because people can't afford them as easily as they used to.  When business is the enemy there are no jobs.

Lasky explains why.

Pamela Geller on "We Won, Now What?"

Pamela Geller has written a stirring call to action at American Thinker.  It's called "We Won, Now What?"

She gives a pretty complete list and I can't think of much to add, if anything.  Well maybe one, holding Nuremberg-style trials for the leftists who have sold this country down the river over the past sixty years, that is, those who are still alive.

This is a fight to reclaim the American Republic.  It will have to go on for decades to come and it won't be easy.  However, it must be done if future generations are to live in freedom and prosperity rather than the gray mediocrity of socialism, or the tyranny of sharia law.

Saddam Hussein's Nuclear Weapons Program- Proved!

There is a breaking story on American Thinker and also on Une Vision Neoconservatrice, about the fact that Saddam Hussein did indeed have a nuclear weapons program. American Thinker writes:

The media have been telling us for years that Saddam had no WMD, so "Bush's War": was based on a "lie." And those who believed Saddam did have WMD or WMD programs were delusional or worse. But today, on July 6, 2008, the Associated Press reports that Saddam Hussein had a nuclear program At the Tuwaitha nuclear complex just south of Baghdad, which included 550 metric tons (over 1.2 million pounds) of "yellowcake", or concentrated uranium and multiple devices that could be used in a nuclear weapon.
Read it all here.

No doubt the Congressional Democrats will want to convene a special session of Congress to express a formal and deeply profound apology to President Bush, then resign their seats to go home and get honest, productive jobs. Maybe something they're actually good at.
..
As for that yellow cake, it looks good! Might need some vanilla icing, though.

The Strange Psychology of the Political Left

For years the Left (the liberals, the Democrats, etc) have seemed suicidal, self-hating, even downright crazy. With radical Islam conspiring to murder thousands, if not millions, of Westerners, the Left embraces the terrorists, wearing Muslim clothing and gear to their anti-war demonstrations, making excuses for the terrorists' murderous attacks, and blaming it all on American Imperialism or capitalism or Western arrogance or cultural hegemony or swamp gas or whatever bogey man they can dream up.

However, as a seasoned American (a little oregano, some chili powder, a dash of paprika) I remember the sixties and seventies and the atmosphere on college campuses. Then the Left identified with the Marxists who wanted to undermine, sabotage and conquer the rest of the world. The Left showed up at their anti-war rallies wearing Che Guevara T shirts, carrying Viet Cong flags or wearing old army jackets and berets to pretend that they too were romantic revolutionaries.

A question that has puzzled me for years is this: why does the Left always side with Evil? Why are they always so quick to sell out their own people to totalitarian aggressors? Don't they know that if we lose, they too will lose their freedoms and maybe their lives?

The American Thinker has a great article that explains the mechanics of Loon-Thought. Their article describes the Jewish Kapos, the Jewish police that were an arm of the Nazis in the concentration camps, wearing cast off Nazi uniforms and helping in the persecution of their own people. They sought to distance themselves from the ovens by serving the seat of power, by identifying with the source of their greatest fear. If we are with you, how can you be against us? If we hate the same people you do, are we not allies and friends?

This psychological phenomenon was named "the Stockholdm Syndrome" in the 1970's, after
bank customers were taken hostage by armed robbers and held for days before being released. The former hostages spoke glowingly of their captors. They had come to identify with their tormentors, seeing themselves as part of them. A psychologist in Stockholm explained that this misplaced identification was a psychological coping mechanism, an attempt to curry favor with the captors and be spared from death. The former hostages' reaction was similar to that of the Kapos of the concentration camps.

I read somewhere that this behavior is similar to that of certain wild beasts. Wild dogs, for example, exhibit their submission to the pack leader by laying on their backs and exposing their throats to the leader's fangs. By assuming such a vulnerable position, the subservient members of the pack signal their willingness to be dominated, and it spares them from death. In some situations in the animal world, pacifism works.

Today when we see liberals reaching out to Muslim fanatics, or arguing that their hostility to us is our own fault, or that 9/11 was a Zionist plot, or that we should be in awe of the splendid civilization built by Musims and the grandeur of the Koran, we should know what's happening. It is the Stockholm Syndrome, the baring of the throat. The Left, in terror of their own mortality, are in deep denial of a reality so terrible it cannot be faced. Instead of taking courageous and proactive action to thwart Islamic aggression and terror, they instead seek common ground with the enemy in the hope that they may be spared.

This phenomenon probably explains why so many modern Jews (both in and out of Israel) act in ways that appear contrary to their own best interests, e.g., funding projects for Islamic societies, voting for Democrats, liberals and leftists, denouncing Israel, parroting Palestinian propaganda about occupation and oppression.

The American Thinker article makes a lot of sense and gives a lot of clear examples of why the Left behaves as it does. Read the article.
