Saddam Hussein's Nuclear Weapons Program- Proved!

There is a breaking story on American Thinker and also on Une Vision Neoconservatrice, about the fact that Saddam Hussein did indeed have a nuclear weapons program. American Thinker writes:

The media have been telling us for years that Saddam had no WMD, so "Bush's War": was based on a "lie." And those who believed Saddam did have WMD or WMD programs were delusional or worse. But today, on July 6, 2008, the Associated Press reports that Saddam Hussein had a nuclear program At the Tuwaitha nuclear complex just south of Baghdad, which included 550 metric tons (over 1.2 million pounds) of "yellowcake", or concentrated uranium and multiple devices that could be used in a nuclear weapon.

No doubt the Congressional Democrats will want to convene a special session of Congress to express a formal and deeply profound apology to President Bush, then resign their seats to go home and get honest, productive jobs. Maybe something they're actually good at.

Al-Qaeda Admits Defeat in Iraq

Nibras Kazimi is a Visiting Scholar at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC and a contributing editor for the New York Sun. On his blog he writes:

A prolific jihadist sympathizer has posted an ‘explosive’ study on one of the main jihadist websites in which he laments the dire situation that the mujaheddin find themselves in Iraq by citing the steep drop in the number of insurgent operations conducted by the various jihadist groups, most notably Al-Qaeda’s 94 percent decline in operational ability over the last 12 months when only a year and half ago Al-Qaeda accounted for 60 percent of all jihadist activity!

Thus, not only is America defeating Al-Qaeda militarily in Iraq but it is also squashing the grand jihadist vision for a caliphate that the Islamic State of Iraq stood for. This point is critical: in this ideological war, victory can only come about when the ideology of the opponent is negated and proven unworkable. The fight in Iraq is doing just that.I’m not saying that the jihadists won’t keep trying to find a workable formula for the caliphate elsewhere, but for now they have been dealt a severe demoralizing blow. Put that in your pipe and smoke it all ye calling for a hasty withdrawal.

Marine Adopts Disabled Iraqi Orphan

The A.P. has run a touching story about a U.S. Marine who adopted an Iraqi boy from an orphanage in Iraq. The boy, Ala'a, has cerebral palsy. U.S. Marines visited the Mother Teresa Orphanage in Iraq where Ala'a and other children were cared for by Catholic nuns. The Marines played with the children and one of them, Captain Scott Southworth, became acquainted with Ala'a. Ala'a seems to have adopted the Captain first, as he began to call him "Baba," Arabic for "Daddy."

Ala'a was only 9 years old and weighed only 55 pounds. When Southworth was told the boy would be moved to another institution in a year where his future would be bleak, Southworth impulsively offered to adopt him.
