GQ's Comic Strip Lamentation for Osama Bin Laden

The online version of Gentleman's Quarterly has published a "web comic" about the termination of Osama Bin Laden by Navy Seals in May of this year.  They asked some well-known comic book artists to illustrate the mission that killed Bin Laden.

The artwork is well done, but carries a leftist bias (most comic book artists nowadays are progressives on steroids). Osama Bin Laden, the murderer of 3,000 people on 9/11/2001, is displayed as a tired, wise old man, a rather sympathetic figure:

Five years -- six?  Caged in these rooms and NOW FINALLY--the end sounds close and far at the same time -- the walls around him complicate things --

The web comic ends with Osama taking a bullet to the head, with the blazing legend "FOR GOD AND COUNTRY".

The cynical legend is subtly sarcastic and reflects leftist biases against both "God and Country."  Only Christian religious fanatics and wildly patriotic jingoists machine gun kindly, tired and wise old men.  (Yes, his tired eyes seem to silently and sadly lament the strife and violence -- oh, why can't this be a better world?  Why can't we all just get along?  Why does it always have to end this way?  Aren't we supposed to be better than this?) 

The answer to kindly grandpa's silent questions is simple.  It is because dangerous and slightly mad rightwingers believe that killing is the ultimate expression of religious ecstasy and love of country.   Never mind the murdered Americans and billions of dollars of damage to the World Trade Center and Pentagon.  Let's just focus on the kindly old man with his lovable grandpa-like beard and his tired eyes.  Let us not dwell on his crime.  He was merely a victim of American religious fanaticism and mindless patriotism.  Every college sophomore knows that these two evils account for all the violence and hatred in the world.  Hey, that 9/11 thing was just an excuse...or an inside job used to justify the murder of non-Christians.

For God and country my ass.  For justice.  Thank God the S.O.B. is dead.  I only regret that it took ten years to find him.

Uncolored Depiction of Osama Buying the Farm

It appears the coloring book depicting Osama's death has caused a lot of controversy. Well, I can see why. It may be too harsh a subject matter for little kids. I wouldn't buy the coloring book for my grandkids. Not that I mind depictions of Osama cashing in his chips, I have done a few in my time. But mine weren't intended for small children.

When I was a kid with coloring books, there weren't any depicting American troops mowing down Nazis, even though it was soon after World War II. I drew my own, of course, but there weren't any commercially available. It was just too brutal a subject matter for children.

I found an actual page online from the controversial coloring book and it is above left.  Below the uncolored version is one I colored in with Photshop CS5.  This latest version of Photoshop is very cool, and I colored the picture to see what CS5 could do, as well as for laughs.  Pass this example along to your little kids so they can properly depict Osama getting his head blown off.  You sick puppy!

Seriously, to help your children color it right, buy them a $1,000 copy of Photoshop CS5 and a new laptop.  Beats the heck out of color crayons any day.

Even more seriously, I read that cartoonist Garry Trudeau uses Photoshop to color his drawings.  He draws them first in pencil, then goes over them in black ink, then has staff scan them into a graphic file (probably a jpg).  Staff then uploads the scan into Photoshop where any imperfections can be easily corrected.  You can erase unnecessary lines and use the liquid filter to reshape parts of the drawing that aren't quite right.  Finally, you can use the magic wand tool to easily color sections of the scanned drawing (as I did in the example above).  If you really want to impress, you can copy and paste garment patterns into the pants, shirts, etc, using the "paste into" option.

By the way, I didn't pay full price for my copy of CS5, since I am a long-time user and only have to pay an update price.  This exercise has made me aware that I may be able to create some better graphic art.  I can draw pretty well using pencil and paper, not as well with a graphic tablet.  Then I can do the scan and color in CS5.  Gotta try it (actually, I already did, see previous post about the coloring book).

Osama Bin Laden As He Appears Today (Photoshop)

It's Sunday and time for some Photoshop fun and experimentation.

I did a Photoshop of Osama Bin Laden at the bottom of the sea in an earlier post, but it wasn't realistic.  Osama was wearing a turban and a beard and standing up, even though a skeleton.  Then I got to thinking:  what might Osama really look like right now, today?  Here's what my imagination and Photoshop CS5 brought forth:  his skull with a big crack where the commando bullets did the damage, his jaw bone buried in the sand, while a crab picks whatever meat might be left on the bleaching bones.

Apparently, there is a new coloring book available that depicts the shooting of Osama Bin Laden.

Not sure this new coloring book is for kids or Congressional Democrats.  However, according to Pundit Press, the book is out there and available.

Kids should buy additional red crayons before coloring the book.  I know, because I bought the coloring book and kids should use my efforts (see left) as an example.

I'm getting better at staying within the lines, dontcha think?

P.S. What color crayon should I use for brains?  Gray or pink?

Obama's Real Reason for Not Releasing the Photos

A lot of Obama's far-left constituents are upset with the "assassination" of Osama Bin Laden.  It seems that "progressives" always feel really sorry for the bad guys who are trying to kill us.

I suspect the real reason Obama has refused to release the dead Osama photos is because they would further inflame his base -- not because they would inflame Muslims.

Osama Knew the Americans Had Arrived -- and That His Goose Was Cooked

Saxby Chambliss, Senator from Georgia and VP of the Senate Intelligence Committee, gave additional details of the raid on Bin Laden's compound.  From those facts it is obvious that Osama Bin Laden knew that American commandos were closing in and that he was in the last minutes of his life.

The commandos killed two people on the first floor of the three story mansion, and were using explosive charges to open sealed doors.  On the third floor, where Osama sat cowering in his bedroom, the commandos blew open a sealed door to reveal a hallway.  Bin Laden's bedroom was at the end of the hallway, and he poked his head out to see who was coming for him.  One of the commandos fired a shot at Bin Laden but missed.  Osama therefore got to enjoy the feel of a bullet whizzing by his head in the last few moments of his life.  Seconds later, the two commandos entered Osama's bedroom and shot him to death.

I remember seeing photos of people looking out the windows of the World Trade Center, knowing there was no escape.  Many of them jumped to their deaths rather than wait to be burned to death by the flames.  These victims of Bin Laden had ample time to contemplate their fate.  Unlike Bin Laden, they never knew who had attacked them or why they had to die.

Bin Laden was lucky.  He died relatively quickly and probably painlessly.  Unlike his victims of 9/11, Osama knew who was attacking him and why.  Somewhere in his consciousness he had to know that it was payback, that he had brought his fate on himself.

No doubt he felt the terror of his impending death, but not for long.  Not nearly long enough.

Osama Bin Laden "a Confused Coward" In Last Few Moments

Fox News has a story with facts from sources that took part in the commando operation that killed Osama
Bin Laden.  It seems that those who desire to die as martyrs often get their wishes.  Call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

When the commandos first approached Bin Laden's house, a man in the guest house opened fire on them and was quickly dispatched.  Once in the house, the commandos were instantly rushed by people in the house.  Obama's son Khaled rushed downstairs to confront the Navy Seals and was shot dead.  Weapons were seen throughout the house and the commandos didn't know who might be wearing a suicide vest.  This explains why the Seals were fast on the trigger.

Osama Bin Laden was confronted on the third floor, within reach of his AK-47 rifle and 9 millimeter handgun, but did not go for them.  Instead, he pushed his wife at the two commandos, who quickly ventilated him.  They described Bin Laden as "scared and confused."

It seems that when the glorious moment of martyrdom arrived, Bin Laden had lost his enthusiasm.  Too late.

Drudge Report links to a Yahoo site where the pictures are said to be displayed, but they do not appear.

The photos were posted at the Reuters site at the following link but Reuters has since removed them from view.


However, we have obtained the pictures from another source and they are below the fold.  Warning:  very bloody!  (Click on "Read More" below.)
