Long-Time Conservative Blogger Needs Help: "Always On Watch." Please help!
Always on Watch is a conservative blog that has been around for some time, and always a friend to me and many other bloggers. Mrs. AOW is a home school teacher in Virginia and one of the most elegant and classy ladies in the conservative blogosphere. A few years back her husband suffered a serious stroke, and Mrs. AOW was put through a very difficult and trying period, caring for her husband through recovery and rehabilitation, all while carrying on her home school teaching business. It took Herculean effort on her part, but she did it.
Now Mr. & Mrs. AOW are going through a string of bad luck and could use some financial help: Mr. AOW's special hospital bed is broke and needs fixing or replacement; the furnace just went out in very cold weather, the water heater may be next, and the car's brakes are worn out. Meanwhile, there is an electrical problem in the house wiring that could cause a fire if not fixed. Finally, due to the Medicare doughnut hole, a prescription that usually costs $24 now costs $648. And you thought you had problems!
We all need help now and then. I have been on both the receiving end and the giving end, but now it's AOW's turn to receive in this holiday season. I am "paying it forward." As I once was helped by fellow bloggers, I now gladly help another whose need is great. Join me in this effort. Be a hero to a fellow blogger, a comrade in arms, an ally, a kindred spirit.
You can read about AOW's troubles at this link. Scroll down the page and you will find her tip jar in the right sidebar.
I just contributed $50. Please contribute $5, $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford.
Please repost this on your own blog as well. Spread the word.

The Link Between Barack Obama and Accused Ax Murderer Lizzie Borden
Always On Watch informed me that Obama's birthday, August 4, falls on the anniversary of the famous Lizzie Borden murders. On August 4, 1892, in their home in Fall River, Massachusetts, someone hacked Lizzie's parents to death with an ax. Her step-mom was found dead in an upstairs bedroom and her father was hacked beyond recognition as he napped on his living room couch. Most people think Lizzie did it, but she was acquitted of the crime at trial, and lived in luxury for the rest of her days, spending mom and dad's fortune. Oh well.
Children liked to chant a rhyme in front of Lizzie's door and then run. The rhyme was:
Lizzie Borden took an ax,
Gave her mother forty whacks;
When she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.
Obama has some things in common with Lizzie Borden, and here's a cartoon to prove it. (AOW deserves credit for the idea and is also running this cartoon):
Read more about the Lizzie Bordern murders here (with gruesome photos) and at Wikipedia here.

The Civil Right Not To Be Offended: Say It Ain't So, Tennessee
![]() |
| A Public Service Announcement From the State of Tennessee |
The specific law outlaws posting a photo online that causes "emotional distress" to someone and has no "legitimate purpose." While the law does state that there needs to be "malicious intent," it also includes a massive loophole, in that it says that you can still be liable if the person "reasonably should know" that the actions would "frighten, intimidate or cause emotional distress."Clearly, this law is an abject violation of the First Amendment for free speech, and cannot stand. It would allow anyone to shut down another's free speech based on an individual's subjective tastes and biases.
It must be repealed immediately, or be overwhelmed with massive civil disobedience. Let's flood Tennessee with crude drawings of Muhammad eating bacon sandwiches. That's my entry above! (Uh, but I didn't make it, honest. I found it over at Crooks and Liars, I think. Or maybe it was Democratic Underground.)

A Lady Crusader: Avatar for Cassandra
The figure was created in Poser 7, but everything else (hair, crusader clothes, sword, shield) are all from Photoshop CS3.
Click on the image to see it full size.
Cassandra has a blog entitled "Escape from an Arab Marriage" and has a book out by the same title. Apparently she went through such an experience and wants to warn other women away from making the same mistake.
...
Update: My son suggested making the hair more wild and wooly, so I did so.

Radio KFNX "Voices of Freedom" On Tonight!
Last week Pam Geller hit a home run in her first hour-long hosting of a live radio program. Tonight she is followed by Always on Watch and W.C. of The Gathering Storm. They will interview Nonie Darwish, a former Muslim who is now a Christian and author of books exposing Islam for the violent and intolerant ideology that it is.You can listen to the radio program by clicking the "Voices of Freedom" ad in the left sidebar and clicking on the "listen" link at KFNX. Online radio is very clear and a delight to listen to, so if you haven't tried it before, try it tonight.
Or, you can just click on this link and it will bring up the streaming audio.
Remember, the show starts at 8 PM on the West Coast and 11 PM on the East Coast.
Update: The radio show went smoothly; both Always on Watch and W.C. were cool and professional. Their guest, Nonie Darwish was interesting. If you missed the show, you can download the audio file here.
