Let them eat Bentleys

"One only wishes Wayne LaPierre and his NRA board of directors could be drafted to some of these [violent] scenes, where they would be required to put on booties and rubber gloves and help clean up the blood, the brains, and the chunks of intestine still containing the poor wads of half-digested food that were some innocent bystander’s last meal."It's too bad that Stephen King is a hypocritical leftist. He has authored some of the best horror fiction ever written, novels like "Carrie," "IT" and "The Shining." I have truly enjoyed his fiction and have savored his writing talent. However, early in his career he wrote some dubious novels under the pen name of Richard Bachman. One of those was a short novel called "Rage," in which a mentally disturbed student brings a gun to class, kills the teacher, and holds the classroom hostage while police gather outside. I didn't like the story. It was very violent but had no point, no moral message. It was violence for the sake of violence. There was no epiphany, no satisfying resolution. I wondered why King would write such trash.
In subsequent years, numerous school murders occurred around the country with the assailants saying they had gotten the idea directly or loosely from "Rage."One can only wonder if Adam Lanza, James Holmes, Jared Loughner, Seung-Hoi Cho, Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold got their ideas from "Rage." All of these incidents involve some similarity to King's violent fiction, "Rage." Indeed, Lanza, Cho, Harris and Klebold all carried out their gun murders on school grounds or campuses. All four shot teachers and students to death.
Brady is a flaming hypocrite. He is "upset" by a map with gunsights on districts (not on people) but totally unmoved by brazen advocacy of presidential assassination as documented in my previous post. That, however, is beside the point. There is no connection between anything Sarah Palin said or did with the Arizona shootings. Brady's disingenuous stand, therefore, is not designed to correct an actual condition, but to impugn Sarah Palin.Washington (CNN) - Rep. Robert Brady, D-Pennsylvania, said he will introduce legislation making it a federal crime for a person to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a Member of Congress or federal official.Brady's decision to offer the legislation comes less than 24 hours after a gunman attempted to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Arizona, in a shooting that claimed the lives of a federal judge, and a nine year-old girl, among others."This is not a wake up call, this is major alarms going off," he said.Brady is particularly incensed over a web posting by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin during the 2010 election in which she targeted 20 House Democrats, including Giffords for political defeat. The posting showed a map of the United States with the 20 Democratic congressional districts identified by gun sights.
Michael Moore, dedicated leftwing filmmaker, has a new film that will be released soon. It's called "Capitalism, a Love Story." Michael Moore hates capitalism, even though it's made him filthy rich.
A few weeks ago a former liberal talk show host, Bernie Ward, was indicted on child pornography charges. Ward is an extreme leftist who also claims to be an ardent Christian. The main stream media claimed that Bernie was indicted solely on the basis of a couple of porn pictures that included minors, that it was all a big misunderstanding, that Bernie was doing research for a book. Since I once saw Bernie Ward speak at my son's Catholic high school (on, of all things, ethics), I felt a small connection to this man, so I defended him. He was a liberal and a political enemy, but does that justify ruining his life and career, over a couple of pictures? And what would that do to his wife and kids?
