Are Some Military Leaders Considering a Coup of Obama?

Recently there has been speculation on the web that some in the military have discussed and considered a military coup to remove Barack Obama from office.  Retired Lt. General William Boykin claims that some have considered a coup, but decided against it.  According to the website Government Executive:
A former top general and current executive at the Family Research Council says members of the military have considered staging a coup d'état against the president, but will not because of civilian control of the military.
"People I've spoken to would like to see the military 'fulfill their constitutional duty and take out the president,' " retired Army Lt. Gen. William Boykin told World Net Daily, a website best known for pushing Obama "birther" conspiracy theories. "Our Constitution puts a civilian in charge of the military and as a result a coup would not be constitutional. You're not going to see a coup in the military."
It's interesting to note that Obama has fired 197 military commanders since he took office, and this may be a result of Obama's fears of such a coup.  So he is ridding the military of all but the most compliant commanders.  Other possible defensive moves by Obama:  having Homeland Security purchase millions of rounds of ammunition and thousands of body bags, over the past two years, and creation of the most widespread spying operation in US history, targeting American citizens as well as foreign leaders.  From these acts, one can almost conclude that Obama fears a coup.  But why would he, unless he plans increasingly radical action against the Constitution and the reaction it will cause?

Back in 2009 I wrote about the possibility of a coup against Obama, due to his radicalism and destructive policies that are wrecking the economy.  That post was "Is Barack Obama the New Salvador Allende?"

Salvador Allende was the Marxist president of Chile back in the 1970's, whose policies destroyed the Chilean economy.  I wrote:
Allende greatly increased the minimum wage, causing thousands of small businesses to fail and bringing on raging unemployment and inflation. Allende seems like an early version of Barack Obama.
Allende nationalized banking and other industries and socialized the health care system -- sound familiar? Inflation soared, foreign reserves declined and Allende soon announced that Chile would default on its foreign debt. Basic commodities and foodstuffs disappeared from market shelves and waves of strikes began, first by truckers, small businessmen and unions, then by housewives. By September 1973 the military figured it had to act and overthrew Allende in a coup. Good riddance. (Today the leftists claim that Allende's coup was staged by the CIA and that it was American opposition that caused his socialist experiment to fail -- the same old lies and excuses for failed socialism.)
I concluded:
...like Salvador Allende, perhaps Barack Obama will awaken one morning to find the White House lawn covered with tanks and soldiers. I hope it never comes to that. But it could.
Now it seems that some military personnel are considering the necessity of such a plan.  However, I doubt that it will happen, as things are not yet that bad in the USA.  In another year, Americans will again have an opportunity to put the brakes on this anti-American socialist, Barack Obama, by voting for Republicans and restoring a Republican majority in the senate.  If the Obamacare disaster doesn't persuade them to vote sanely, nothing will.

Deck the Halls With Fiscal Folly, Fa la la la la, la la la la

This is Not Harry Reid
Elections have consequences.  There's a phrase we hear a lot these days.  And the disastrous consequences of Obama's re-election are becoming clearer by day.

Nasty little Democrats like Dick Durbin are saying that the Dems won't negotiate on spending.  They are just going to continue spending like drunken sailors on loco weed.  The wretched Harry Reid, who looks like that evil preacher in Poltergeist, is trying to get rid of the filibuster so his neo-Marxist party can continue to turn the USA into the next Venezuela (but without the oil).

According to Rush Limbaugh today, the Dems are again talking about seizing all private pension funds (like 401K's), nationalizing them so they can spend the money on more pork, welfare and entitlements, putting everyone on a government pension payment plan like Social Security, which as we all know is going broke.  So when the Dems do this, they will effectively be stealing the retirement of millions of people, exchanging those pension funds for worthless federal government IOU's.  (If this happens, it will undoubtedly be the trigger that launches the actual secession of various states and the shooting may start.)

My feeling is, if we are going to be transformed into a banana republic, why not act like one?  Here's hoping for a coup d'etat and summary executions of "progressives" in power, media and academia.  Okay, I wasn't really serious about the summary executions.  Concentration camps will do fine.  We can store them in Gitmo with the rest of the terrorists.

Am I joking?  Of course, but I have a legitimate point to make with this satire.  The Democrats have already dispensed with elections through massive vote fraud, partisan redistricting and disenfranchisement of the military.  They are dedicated to the acquisition of power through any means necessary; they are not committed to constitutional, representative, republican government.  So why would they object to a little thing like a coup?  It would just be taking Democrat tactics to the next level.

I Scooped John Perry by Over Six Months Re: Possible Military Coup of Obama

Today John L. Perry had an article at Newsmax.com about a possible military coup to remove Barack Obama from office.  Perry wrote:
There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.
Newsmax has since deleted the article in light of a firestorm of protest from both left and right.  Some blogs, like the Fence Sitters (aka "The Moderate Voice") are claiming that "Newsmax Calls for a Military Coup in the US."

Newsmax, of course, did nothing of the sort.  Kathy Katenburg should be ashamed of herself for such a misleading and mendacious article title.

I reviewed this same possibility of a military coup back in March in a post called "Is Barack Obama the New Salvatore Allende?"  Allende was a communist who was elected president of Chile back in 1970.  His ruin of the Chilean economy was so severe that eventually the military deposed him in a coup.  When people are starving in the streets they are far less likely to pay lip service to the nuances of democratic elections.  The military overthrew Allende, but they did so with the overwhelming support of the Chilean population.

I concluded that Obama would have to really screw things up to become the subject of a coup and we are nowhere close to that situation at this juncture.   A far more likely and practical strategy would be to remove him from office via the ballot box, after first rendering him politically impotent in office through the 2010 Congressional elections.

Clifton at Another Black Conservative has stated that the military has the Constitutional right to remove any government that grows tyrannical.  He writes:
Despite popular belief, America is not a democracy. America is a Constitutional Republic. As such, we are a nation of laws with the Constitution reigning supreme. This is also why our military swears allegiance to the Constitution and not to an elected official. Even the elected officials swear to uphold and defend the Constitution. So yes, the military can act against any president or congress that flat out thwarts the Constitution.
Read our founding documents and the words of our Founding Fathers and the message is clear, power does not rest with government but with the people. Our Founding Fathers gave us both tools and encouragement to over throw ANY government that grows tyrannical. This is why our words and our weapons take the number one and number two spots in the Amendments.
Now here is the shocking part, this kind of stuff has been true since the dawn of our government and so long as we keep our true rights and liberties, it will remain true until the end of time. So while talk of a military coup is shocking and scary, the military’s allegiance to the Constitution is just another check and balance in our form of government designed to keep a free people free.
Now lets get back to opposing those dreadful [Obama] policies the way Americans normally do, protest, protest, protest!
Clifton has made more sense on the Perry post than any other blogger I've seen today.  No wonder his blog star continues to rise.

Back in March my own conclusions were this:
Perhaps this country can survive the next two years until the next round of Congressional elections wherein a Republican majority can be seated; they can then stymie Obama's socialization program until we can kick him out in 2012. Or impeach him. By then I predict the Supreme Court will be a lot more interested in Obama's missing birth certificate than they are now.
Or, like Salvatore Allende, perhaps Barack Obama will awaken one morning to find the White House lawn covered with tanks and soldiers. I hope it never comes to that. But it could.
