Garry Trudeau: Democrat Cheerleader

Garry Trudeau is a partisan Democrat who daily expresses the talking points of the Democratic Party in the form of a comic strip, "Doonesbury." He detests Bush and Rumsfield and any and all who support them. Like most Democrats, he wants easy solutions to serious problems. Today Trudeau illustrates the Democrat plan for Iraq: (1) Cut and (2) Run. Every problem requiring a difficult, long-term solution can be easily dismissed with a talking point or one-liner. The war on Islamic extremism is his current target; in the 1960's it was the Vietnam War. Trudeau, like other leftists, can insult the President and offer snide commentary suffused with sarcasm, but can offer no realistic alternative solution. That may be because they don't acknowledge that there is a problem in the first place. The liberal approach to hostile enemies is to just ignore them.

Trudeau and his ilk succeeded in stopping the Vietnam War, with a default victory to the Communists, who then proceeded to slaughter 2.5 million Indochinese peasants. The blood of those dead are on Trudeau's hands and on those of every liberal, leftist and pacifist who demanded peace at any price. These fools are yet to learn that there are worse things than war. I doubt they will lose any sleep over it though. There is no evil or atrocity that a liberal can't easily dismiss from his own mind and heart, content that since it wasn't the subject of a New York Times editorial, it never really existed at all.
UPDATE: An article at Frontpagemag.com today really refutes the notions of Gucci Liberals like Trudeau. The article, called Forward Strategy versus Cut and Run by Thomas G. McInerney and Paul E. Vallely , almost seem to be addressing Trudeau himself. They write:
This Cut and Run crowd does not recognize that the forward strategy is
essential just as it was in WWII and the Cold War. We had millions of troops
overseas in WWII and almost a half million during the Cold War. Germany, Italy
and Japan were defeated with forces in theater and Communism was defeated with
forces forward deployed into Korea, Japan, Philippines and throughout Central
Europe. Today we are forward deployed into Afghanistan and Iraq plus other
locations in the Middle East. It took us about 40 years to defeat Communism and
two intense combat theaters in Korea and Vietnam plus numerous other campaigns
like the Berlin Airlift, Berlin Wall Crises and the Cuban Missile crisis to
eventually win. However, the Cut and Run strategists do not appreciate
that we must change the region and apparently think defending ports and shopping
malls alone will defeat Islamic Extremism. They don’t get it. We must take
the fight to the Islamic Extremists on their territory and it will be intense
and ugly at times. As a matter of fact Cut and Run doesn’t address how they will
defeat this ideology let alone acknowledge that it is the threat.
They just want
out and say if we leave things will get better.

I met his mother many years ago, long before he was famous. His mother was so proud of him. I was happy for her. Now I suspect she lives in the attic and rocks back and forth, moaning, gnashing her teeth, cursing her womb.
