Freakout Nation Freaks Out Over a Child's Hat

A little black boy in North Carolina was given a Confederate kepi as a prize at his grade school.  As he stepped off the bus on his way home, his mom freaked out.  Omigod, a Confederate kepi!  Slavery!  Racism!  Some dumb-ass leftwing site (Freakout Nation) picked up the story and are now wallowing in self-righteousness.  They don't realize it, but they are also wallowing in ignorance.

The Northern Myth (that righteous Northerners fought the Evil South to free the slaves) is a matter of religious faith for the ignorant, a paean to the mighty federal government, who has the right to compel any of the formerly sovereign states to do what it wants, to invade those states with armies, make war on the population therein, and kill and destroy until the will of the populace is obliterated.  This is a blueprint for internal tyrants to reduce Americans to utter despotism, and even those conservatives who buy into it are promoting the unbridled power of the centralized government.

And no, the so-called Civil War was not fought over slavery.  There is no moral justification for Lincoln's war of aggression.  (Read the article before hitting me with all the Damn-Yankee talking points.)

I commented over at Freakout Nation, and was quickly banned from further commenting.  Ignoramuses do not appreciate any light allowed into their desiccated brains.

And He's Wearing a Kepi
See Confederate Memorial Here
I told them that this kid is not the first black to wear a Confederate kepi.  Many blacks did, in service to the South.  This unfortunate fact upsets the great moral, self-legitimating myth, and must be suppressed.  The brainwashed like their history nice and neat, like a file cabinet with two drawers, one marked "Good" and the other "Bad."  Actual history is not so neat and tidy, not so easily understood.  And, frankly, I am sick and tired of having ignoramuses slander my Confederate ancestors.

When I was a kid, two of the holidays marked on the calendars businesses would give out, were Robert E. Lee's birthday and Confederate Memorial Day. God help anyone who would put out a similar calendar today.

Proof, yes, and now we must oppose this leftist mind control with brazen boldness, get in their faces and say YOU'RE WRONG. And that's what I intend to do.

Gah! Don't Americans have something better to do that to freak out over something like this?

It's programmed into them -- to react on cue.

The boy probably didn't even know what it was. To him, it was just another hat.

Stogie Chomper said...

Yes. They should let the child enjoy his hat without laying a ton of BS on him.

Stogie,

“And no, the so-called Civil War was not fought over slavery.”

Maybe one should check the facts, first.

“Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the government built upon it fell when the “storm came and the wind blew.”

Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.”

...

“That we, in maintaining slavery as it exists with us, were warring against a principle, a principle founded in nature, the principle of the equality of men.”

- “Corner Stone” Speech given by Alexander H. Stephens (CSA - Vice President) in Savannah, Georgia, March 21, 1861
(http://teachingamericanhistory.org/library/document/cornerstone-speech/)

"Actual history is not so neat and tidy, not so easily understood." Especially when one gets the facts wrong. Too bad facts get in the way of your myths.

Ben, I should delete your erroneous comments, because you did not do what I required, namely, to read the article "Why the Civil War Was Not about Slavery" which is linked in the article. You don't know the facts and should not be lecturing your intellectual superiors with sound bites and myths. As for Stephens speech, it is not very different from Abraham Lincoln's speeches in which he said the essentially the same things. Read the article and do not waste any more of my time or I will delete your comments.

In quoting Stephens I am showing "intellectual superiors" that the people actually involved in the terrorist organization of the Confederate States of America were fighting over slavery. Of course "intellectual superiors" can try to twist and deny any fact "intellectual superiors" want to. The historical truth stands, the national level leadership of the CSA clearly were fighting the war over slavery. They proudly asserted so throughout the conflict.

Delete what you will. The Vice President of CSA was many things. But at least _he_ was honest. Can "intellectual superiors" say the same?

The North invaded the South, made war on women and children, bombarded civilians from offshore with gunboats, burned whole cities, private homes and universities to the ground, and the South were the "terrorists"? The truth is, the North under Lincoln was the 19th century's version of Nazi Germany.

So Stephens was honest about race? So was Lincoln. He said the following about slavery:
I have no purpose directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.

He denied that the war was about slavery and said this to a New York newspaper:
My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union.

He stated unequivocally that he believed (as Stephens did) that blacks were inferior to whites:
I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.

My problem with you "Ben," is that I have to repeat many refutations which have been made before, at the link I made in this article, and because you are too lazy (or too afraid of the truth) to read it, I have to waste a lot of time covering the same ground. Furthermore, your arguments are generalities and sound bites, you display no real understanding of the history of the war, its causes or its aftermath.

The truth is, the North's invasion of the South and their starting a terrible war was a great moment in tyranny and despotism, and the only way Yankee-files can add an undeserved aura of honor or morality to their crimes against humanity is to pretend that the whole thing was about slavery -- i.e., that the North fought to free the slaves because they were so moral and enlightened. It's complete bullshit. The North never put forth any workable or responsible plan to end slavery. The only issue that mattered to Northerners and Republicans was to keep slavery out of the territories, because (1) they didn't want it to compete with white laborers for jobs, and (2) because they hated blacks and wanted to stay as far away from them as possible.

Give this kid lifetime SCV membership for FREE. No child should have to put up with this because of a cap.

Stogie Chomper said...

Longstreet, whereas this little kid can be my campmate anytime, where we will wear our Confederate kepis together, he is not old enough to join the SCV. You have to be at least 13 years of age, and have a lineal or collateral descendant who served the Confederacy. Many blacks do qualify.
