Gavin McInnes: The U.S. of Shame, or Why Everything Offensive to Somebody Must be Banned from Public View

Gavin McInnes, writing at Taki's Magazine, notes how many flags, symbols and other paraphernalia should be banned like the Confederate flag, to avoid annoying the Perpetually Offended.  He writes:

A common refrain during all this controversy is that it’s no big deal and nobody’s banning the flag, they just want it relegated to museums where it won’t hurt anybody’s feelings. They said the same thing about Pamela Geller. Why bother having an art contest if it’s going to make people mad? Well, because capitulating to the perpetually offended is a thankless task that never ends.

And:

Black people in America are far from spoiled English girls, but the culture of shame has the same effect no matter who it touches. Capitulation leads to more capitulation until you simply cease to be.

And:

History is written by the victors, and they tell me the Civil War was all about the racist South refusing to abolish slavery. I’m sure this has some truth to it, but it appears that the South just didn’t like being told what to do. I think Lincoln made the war about slavery as a PR stunt and it was really about secession.

Jonathan Chait: Political Correctness is "a Kind of Virtual Mental Prison."

Jonathan Chait has written a controversial essay for New York magazine on the subject of "political correctness":  Not a Very P.C. Thing to Say hat tip American Power.  Chait's explanation of this phenomenon is that it is a form of censure, thought control, permanent control of public discussion so that only certain memes and themes may be advanced, with any opposing views silenced and ostracized.  Political correctness is a new form of Stalinism (my description, not Chait's).

The goal of political correctness is to shut down debate on subjects beloved by the left.  Criticism, opposing ideas are forbidden.  The result is that in leftist venues like the college campus, a hostile culture and work environment holds sway over the populace.  A hyper-sensitivity to any imagined race or gender bias exists, and those who inadvertently trigger it are to be publicly humiliated, excoriated and socially and professionally ostracized.  This is the P.C, environment, which Chait has described as a "kind of virtual mental prison."

Political correctness is tyranny.  That's why I have been determined to say what I think in this blog, regardless of who it may offend.

If you have recently been enrolled in college courses, you probably noticed the strange culture that exists on campuses.  Attitudes about race, sex, gender and economics seem bizarre, odd and alien.  That is because of the intellectual bubble in which the left lives, the false reality they have constructed for themselves.  Their values are warped and unnatural.  You find yourself tip-toeing around crowds of weirdos to avoid giving offense and bringing down the anger of the strange alien masses.  Take a good look, for this is what America will look like if they have their way.

Justine Sacco, Liberal, Latest Victim of a Fanatical Racial Hyper-Sensitivity

Call me obtuse.  I just don't get it.  I don't see the "offensiveness" in the latest public lynching of an apostate to liberalism.

Justine Sacco, a liberal PR representative of IAC, the parent company of the liberal Daily Beast, committed heresy Friday when she tweeted the following:

“Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just Kidding. I’m white!”

Sacco tweeted this from a plane on its way to Africa, and IAC fired her before the plane even landed.  The tweet went viral, with legions of offended liberals denouncing Sacco as the most brazen reprobate ever to befoul the planet.  Indeed, I got into a debate with a liberal commenter at American Power who "felt sorry for me" if I couldn't see the deep offensiveness in this tweet.  I must be a reprobate too, as I still am not the least bit offended by it.  Let's analyze.

1.  First of all, the comment doesn't seem to make any sense.  It's true there is a raging epidemic of AIDS in Africa, because many blacks there have unprotected sex with numerous partners.  The only way Sacco would be in danger is if she joined in on the orgy, which seems unlikely.  And if she did, being white would not protect her.  The comment left me scratching my head until R.S. McCain explained it.

2.  What point was Sacco trying to make?  R.S. McCain of "The Other McCain" posits that Sacco was attempting a snarky put-down of white privilege.  If so, she was merely advancing a key liberal ideology: when blacks screw up, it's white people's fault.  If it weren't for "white privilege," whatever that is, blacks in Africa would be no more likely to get AIDS than white people.  I think McCain's interpretation is correct.

Summary and Conclusions:  Our culture is utterly sick and depraved, not because of rampant racism, but because of a fanatical form of racial hypersensitivity.  Any comment by a media personality that broaches the subject of race (especially the black race), sets off a kind of public frenzy, like sharks smelling blood in the water and then eating their own.  Any mention of blacks compared to whites is automatically assumed to be vicious, "racist," hateful and devolved from the darkest and basest of human emotions -- and to be utterly, reflexively condemned.

The penalty for this racial apostasy is reminiscent of Shirley Jackson's 1948 short story, "The Lottery," wherein a person is periodically chosen at random by the townsfolk to be stoned to death in the public square.  Blood must be shed, though no one seems to know why.  Justine Sacco is the random victim in this case, a periodic sacrifice to the gods of political correctness.  

It's time to oppose and end this insanity, even when it is applied to liberals.  Too many people have had their careers damaged or ended and their reputations sullied by this fanaticism.  It is an evil that helps no one, and only serves to stifle discussion and debate on important subjects.  All of us, conservative or liberal, must stand together to end this oppressive cultural tyranny.

Approved (and Unapproved) Halloween Costumes for University of Colorado, Boulder

Approved Costume: A Rock

The University of Colorado, Boulder has informed its students not to wear offensive Halloween costumes this year.  That includes costumes of cowboys or Indians.  As we all know, the very first marching order of liberal culture and orthodoxy is that NO ONE shall ever be "offended" in any way, shape or form, by references to their ethnicity, profession, sexual preference, size, shape, religion, hair color, income level, or brand of toothpaste. Of course, the best way for the liberal intelligentsia to prevent such offenses is to have absolute power over your mind, thoughts and speech.  You will not think, act or speak without advance permission.  Make one mistake and you will  be publicly shamed, shunned, ostracized, and required to join the Tea Party.

The UC-Boulder Administration has not yet released an official list of Big Brother Approved costumes, so we are left to struggle with creating our own list.  An obvious choice:  go as a boulder, or big rock.  That will not offend anyone and ties in nicely with the name and location of the university.

Other inanimate objects are also a safe bet:  fire hydrants, telephone

Approved Costume:  A Tree

poles, lamp posts.  Of course, they are terribly boring, but no one will be offended.  Some living things are also allowed, as long as they are plants.  A tree is a great choice, and you will get many hugs from liberals.



AVOID THESE COSTUMES:

1.  A big black penis (yes, they do exist).  These tend to attract Kim Kardashian and may be offensive to blacks for some reason.
2.  Tinkerbelle.  Gays will definitely object.  Peter Pan isn't such a good idea either.  A fairy in green tights?  I don't think so.
3.  Ballerinas, Princesses, Angels -- These tend to imply that there is a difference between male and female genders, which good liberals know is just not true, and it is sexist to think so.  (Exception:  if you are a gay or transgender male you may go as these, but NOT if you are an actual female.)
4.  Pussies.  Please, we are all tired of Republican jokes and depictions.  Give it a rest.

The Washington Love

In my last post, I created a list of possible new names for the Washington Redskins, names with insulting stereotypes for white people, as a way to "level the playing field" so to speak.  My thinking was that we should embrace our negative stereotypes, hang 'em out there, celebrate them and own them.  However, that approach may not work.  What we need are names for sports teams that insult no one, are inclusive and conducive to racial healing and are transgender inclusive (choke....yes I'm kidding).

Once the new names for sports teams are in effect, we will enter a new era of love and good feeling, where no one on earth is ever offended or insulted ever again.  Hearts and flowers and ballet lessons will be the new norm, and peace will descend like a chorus of angels singing and playing harps and piccolos.  Generals will beat their swords into plowshares and start pot farms.

The Washington Chickens: Changing the Name of a Famous Football Team #Photoshop #racism #bigotry #politicalcorrectness

There has been a lot of talk lately about the Washington Redskins Football Team.  It seems the perpetually offended and eternally outraged have decided that the team name is "racist" (which is true, but then again, what isn't?).  So public pressure is building on the team to change its name to something more politically correct and in keeping with dictums and nostrums of Big Brother.  American Renaissance has some suggestions for the change, like "the Fighting Whities."

Instituting mascots with a white people's theme might be a refreshing change.  I prefer "the Howling Honkies" myself.  However, a white theme isn't unheard of, there is, after all, the Boston Celtics Basketball Team.  Celtics, of course, is not a "slur," as "redskins" is said to be.  Try naming a team "the Pugnacious Paddies" and you might get a different result.  But I digress.

Washington needs a new name, lest outraged liberals be turned into pillars of salt, and a new and appropriate one must be found.  The new name must make use of insulting stereotypes of white people, to even the score and to repay various minorities for decades of suffering insulting sports themes.  Some possibilities:

1.  The Washington Foreskins (a Jewish theme - helmet logo to be, uh, never mind)
2.  The Washington Drunken Irishmen (motto: "they may lose games, but always win the fight that follows")
3.  The Washington Stingy Scots (with a band of bagpipe playing Scots in kilts and tam o'shanters, cheerleaders dressed as haggis)
4.  The Washington Rednecks (their uniformed mascot would resemble Bill Clinton and the cheerleaders wearing big hair-sprayed hair)
5.  The Washington White Racists (in honor of white people everywhere - cheerleaders in klan hood miniskirts )
6.  The Washington Red Ink (in honor of the Federal Government - cheerleaders in ball and chains)
7.  The Washington Commies (in honor of the Democratic Party, Nancy Pelosi as head cheerleader)
8.  The Washington Wishywashy (in honor of the Republican Party)
9.  The Washington Old Goats (in honor of #7 & 8)
10.  The Washington Jewish Penny-Pinchers (helmet logo the Star of David)
11.  The Washington White Guys (the cheerleaders would be required to chew gum and act clueless)
12.  The Washington Welchers  (helmet logo would be an IOU)
13.  The Washington Massive Conspiracy (Redskin Stadium to be renamed Alex Jones Stadium)
14.  The Washington Illuminati (with cheerleaders dressed as pyramids with an eyeball on top)
15.  The Washington International Bankers (their helmets would have its logo as $)

Use your imagination.  Perhaps the theme will spread to other cities and teams, e.g., "the Baltimore Bigots."  Considering the high gay population of San Francisco, the Forty-Niners could be renamed "the San Francisco Sixty-Niners."  Or how about "the Memphis Moonshiners"?  The "Tucson Taco Benders"? The idea is to be as rude, crude and offensive as possible without becoming pornographic.  Love live the insulting white people stereotype!

P.S. I am not the least bit offended by the name "Washington Redskins."  However, if San Francisco ever renames their team "The San Francisco Stogiechompers" they will hear from me.  You have to draw the line somewhere.

Man Fired for Using the N Word in a Staff Discussion About...the N Word

From the Theater of the Absurd comes another scary "Tales from the Politically Correct."  Tom Burlington, a Fox News anchor was present in a staff meeting to discuss the "N word," and how it had been symbolically buried by a local chapter of the NAACP in Philadelphia.

Burlington asked his colleagues whether it was now okay again to use the word "nigger."  Needless to say, a member of the Perpetually Offended and Sacrosanct Special Victims Tribe was astonished:  "I can't believe you just said that!" she exclaimed.  Upon the utterance of this word, although used in context within a discussion of that same word, black people within hearing distance instantly turned into pillars of salt.  Well, some of them.  The others just crapped their pants.

This created quite a mess that someone had to clean up, leading to Burlington's firing.

He uttered a WORD.  He did not use it as an insult or use it to express hatred; he just used it.  That was enough.  This tribe of sacred Dalai Llamas who dwell among us must be offered great deference and respect, and it takes years of training for most of us to walk on eggshells without breaking them.  Obviously, Burlington hadn't yet mastered this skill.

Burlington claims the Philadelphia blacks who "buried" the word had used the same word "hundreds of times" in public, and wonders why its frequent and casual use among blacks is under different rules than for whites.

To appease the Dalai Llama Tribe of the Preferentially Protected and Perpetually Pissed-off (the PPPP), Burlington was fired.  No one can ever offend any black person anywhere, anytime for any reason, even inadvertently.  This speech code has now been tattooed on the brains of the current generation.  It is not just a sin, it is a crime, probably to become a capital offense sometime in the near future.

As for burying things, isn't it time that we buried the farce of this "politically correct" race-baiting tyranny?

Another (Muslim?) Terrorist Plots Mass Murder in Virginia (Yawn)

From the Washington Times yesterday, we learn that a man with an Arabic sounding name plotted to place pipe bombs on trains and in sewers "to produce the greatest number of casualties." The article doesn't mention the suspect's religious affiliations, but I am willing to bet my shorts that the man was a Muslim, attempting to carry out Mohammed's commandments to commit ongoing, violent jihad against us "infidels."

What's up with this insane form of political correctness, that the nature of a growing threat against American lives cannot be named or sourced? Do these fools in the media and in government believe that if we just don't mention Islam, the threat will somehow go away? We must face the facts, that Islam is a deadly ideology that has no place in the 21st century or in America.

Islam is murder. All Islamic immigration into the US must cease and Muslims already here invited to leave. That and that alone will stop the threat from violent jihadis. (Hat tip: Lawrence Auster of View From the Right.)

An Arlington man is accused of threatening to set off bombs around D.C., including in the Metro system, but was caught through messages he sent on Facebook before a plot was developed.

Younis, who was born in Afghanistan, used Facebook to threaten to set off explosives, according to an affidavit for his arrest by Joseph Lesinski, a special agent with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The documents say Younis described how to build a pipe bomb and advocated placing bombs on the third and fifth cars of Metro trains because they "had the highest number of commuters on them and he could place pipe bombs in these locations and would not be noticed."

Younis also said he could put a bomb under a sewer head in Georgetown at rush hour "to produce the greatest number of casualties," the affidavit says.

Sunday Hodgepodge: All the News That I Found Interesting This Week

There were a lot of weird and interesting events this past week. Here are some of them:

1. The Geert Wilders trial in the Netherlands took a strange twist when the prosecutors of Wilders advised the judges in the trial that Wilders was innocent and that the charges should be dropped. The judges did not drop the charges and were replaced with new judges. The Farce trial of Geert Wilders, who is charged with inciting hatred against Muslims (for telling the truth about them), goes on towards an uncertain resolution. Some observers are stating that they expect the charges to be dropped and Wilders to be freed.

2. A female version of Geert Wilders has emerged, one Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, a Vienna housewife, who must stand trial for "hate speech." The lady held seminars in Vienna to discuss the dangers of Islamization and the violent nature of Islam. VFR has the story here.

Europe has become a very disgusting place. Not only are they failing to address the Islamic threat, they openly support it with the most extreme form of political correctness. No one is allowed to tell the truth about Islam lest they be tried for "hate speech." If you take the most left wing college campus in America and expand it several hundred times, you have the new and modern Europe.

3. Juan Williams, a liberal black man, was fired from National Public Radio for telling the truth about his anxieties over Muslims on airplanes. Williams quoted the Times Square failed bomber at his sentencing, stating that "America's war with Islam was just beginning." Williams went on to say that because of this, the presence of Muslims in Islamic garb on commercial aircraft make him feel anxious. For that he was summarily fired from NPR, demonstrating once again the psychotic nature of liberalism.  NPR's stunt backfired on them badly, causing a tidal wave of public anger over the firing.  Most Americans have had their fill of speech codes and political correctness.

4. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, informed German citizens that Germany was well on the way to becoming an Islamic state (thanks to massive, Muslim immigration). She also stated that in Germany, "multiculturalism has failed." Not only has it failed, she said, it has failed utterly. Merkel went on to say that it is folly to believe that disparate cultures living side by side without assimilating is somehow a good thing. She also stated that Germany is losing its Christian nature and more people are leaving Germany than are entering. Will we learn from Europe's countless mistakes on Islamic immigration, socialized medicine and other follies? Don't count on it.

4. GOP Avalanche predicted for November 2nd. Many are saying that the only thing in question for November 2nd is the size of the Republican tidal wave. Let's hope so, but get to the polls and vote. Take nothing for granted.  We have waited two long, painful years of Obama rule, and now is our chance to strike back!

Woman Charged With "Hate Speech" Against Islam -- for Reading From the Koran!

The Vienna prosecutor charged her with hate speech against Islam. She told CBN News she merely quoted directly from the Koran.

"I quoted the Koran. I told them even in the lecture, which Koran I used, which quote. Some of them even had their little Korans with them and they were flipping the pages, you know, checking on me," she said.

The Islamization of Europe is almost complete. Partly because of idiot leftists wimps that are sealing their own death sentence, and partly because of leftist Euro ideology that has their culture committing suicide vis-à-vis low birth rates while Muslims are reproducing like rabbits.

Islamic Extremists in the Workplace: Department of Defense Covers It Up

The Washington Times had an editorial this week that describes the disturbing delusional tendencies of the Pentagon brass regarding Muslims in the workplace.  The editorial describes the review of the Fort Hood shooting incident in which a Muslim army officer shot and killed 14 people, most of them soldiers.  The review is an exercise in denial and a cover-up of internal Islamic threat:

On Aug. 18, Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates released the final Fort Hood follow-on review, in which he proposed initiatives to "mitigate internal threats, ensure force protection, enable emergency response and provide care for victims and families." Radical Islam is nowhere to be found.

The DoD report offers incorrect solutions to a misdiagnosed problem, i.e., that ardent Muslims kill people.  It's what they do.  So the DoD and the Army have simply refused to admit the problem exists.  This is the real danger of "political correctness," when reality itself is denied through a determined effort not to see it.  An alternate reality is promoted instead, and God help anyone who pricks the bubble of illusion.  So speak no evil of Muslims, voice no doubts as to their loyalty or propensity to treason, regardless of the mounting evidence:

The Defense Science Board currently is examining "behavioral indicators of violence and radicalization," and the report recommends a better force protection reporting system for suspicious behavior. This is where the system breaks down. Maj. Hasan didn't slip under the radar because of an inadequate reporting system or lack of indicators that he was a problem. He escaped strong scrutiny solely because he was Muslim.

The DoD's message -- Don't report suspicious Muslims:

In the prevailing politically correct climate, few officers want to risk reporting anything to do with a Muslim for fear of official retaliation.

National Anthem Forbidden at the Lincoln Memorial?

Dan Riehl has posted about an incident in which high school kids spontaneously sang the national anthem at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.  A park cop came along and told them to shut up, that singing wasn't allowed at the Lincoln Memorial because it is a "content-neutral" site.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't think the cop was totally out of line.  Some national monuments deserve a respectful silence.  I wouldn't want people singing songs, even patriotic ones, in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers either, or anywhere at Arlington Cemetery.  The songs would disturb the feeling of reverence and meditation.

Now for Ted Kennedy's grave, songs should be allowed, but only those appropriate and representative of the life and values of the Senator.  Like "Chug-a-lug"or maybe "Dang Me" by Roger Miller.

General George Casey: "Let Us Die for Political Correctness"

General Casey believes that dogmatic adherence to an asinine platitude is preferable to safeguarding the lives of American soldiers.

He had the audacity to say "What happened at Fort Hood was a tragedy, but I believe it would be an even greater tragedy if our diversity becomes a casualty here."

"Diversity is our strength."  No, actually it isn't.  Ask the families of the dead.

This man is a fool.

Distribute freely.

We Died, They Rejoiced

The Jawa Report has an article about the father of a U.S. Sailor who died aboard the U.S.S. Cole as a result of a Muslim bomb attack that killed 17 U.S. sailors.

Jawa reports:

Jesse Nieto, a 25-year Marine veteran, has been banned because of displaying “offensive material" such as decals which say “Remember the Cole, 12 Oct 2000,” “Islam=Terrorism” and “We Died, They Rejoiced.”

The graphic at the left is one of the decals that Nieto displays in the rear window of his car. I recreated it with Xara X.

It's getting pretty bad when a Marine vet can't avail himself of the freedom of speech his own son died for.
