The prediction I heard a lot prior to the election was that if the Repubs took control, Nancy was likely to quit her job entirely, take her balls home with her and refuse to play with the other kids any more, that anything less than Speaker was beneath her. I can definitely see her doing that - it fits her personality.
EM, yes I read on the net that Pelosi is expected to resign. You are right about her ego -- she will have to give up her airplane, her gavel and her prestige and return to being a back bencher. I doubt that she could take it.
