Murder Aboard HMS Nuclear Submarine Astute: Was the Shooter a Muslim?

HMS Astute
A British sailor and armed sentry aboard HMS Astute, a Nuclear Submarine docked at Southampton, shot two of his officers today.  The shooting happened as the sentries were being changed at midday.  One of the victims has died.  The other is in critical condition.  The shooter is in custody.

The British Navy has stated that the shooting was "not terrorist related."  However, they have not released the name of the shooter.  The question is obvious:  was he a Muslim, in a country where doubting Muslim loyalty is a crime?  Were the shootings another example of tragedy wrought by the insanity of non-discrimination in immigration policy?

Not all political/military murderers are Muslims -- Jared Loughner, the demented shooter of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, was not.    Nevertheless, I would be very interested in knowing the identity of the U.K. shooter.

Was he a Muslim or not?

Update:  Media identifies shooter as 22 year old Ryan Donovan.  The name is not Arabic and the shooter does not appear to be Muslim, based on that.

Update 2:  Investigators are speculating that Donovan was dreading another planned month at sea and angry for being refused shore leave.

Your post is ridiculous, speculating on the religion of the perpetrator is not at the forefront of the UK public's mind. There are many Muslims in the British Armed forces and they are just as loyal as their Anglican, Catholic, Hindu, Sikh or atheist counterparts. The British armed forces has a long and proud tradition of diversity in its ranks. Commonwealth troops from all over the world continue to serve alongside troops from the UK. In many ways these are some of the most loyal and disciplined troops we have. Please do not mire an already tragic incident with your small minded opinion.

Patrick, you are such a typically brainwashed, PC Brit. Your policy of massive immigration of unassimilable, hostile Muslims into your country is setting the UK up for disaster. Why don't you try reading something about this foul religion instead of apologizing for it?

You see yourself as bravely enlightened. I see you as profoundly ignorant and naive.

By the way, Patrick, Islam is not a race, it is an ideology -- an ideology that is totalitarian, antisemitic, violent and hateful. Opposing this ideology is no more "racist" than opposition to fascism is "racist" against Germans.

Oh please do write again, I shall have such fun kicking your limey butt.

Good question...I think we know the likely answer. If the shooter wasn't a follower of the 'peaceful' religion of Islam, they would have already released his name, his religion, his parents address....on and on.

We know the routine.

Anonymous, that's my thinking as well.

We'll know his affiliation when his name is released.

That said, I do find it amazing that his name wasn't immediately released or almost immediately released. After all, his identity had to be known, right?

Patric, I will buy you a ticket to Qatar, enjoy life with your friends.

There is only one line that is to be shouted before committing a heinous crime, Allah Hu Akbar, or better yet Allah Hu Himar.

Yalla bye.

The possiblity that the shooter was a Muslim is indeed at the front of the minds of British people.
When it is a Muslim UK authorities either cover it up using a DA-notice (google Blackpool sex grooming) or deny it outright.

IMO, the rational emotional reaction to any terrorist event in a Western nation in the present era requires that one ask two questions:

1) First and foremost: "Was the terrorist incident connected to Islam?"

This is the default assumption for ANY terrorist attack in the West. To not ask this question reveals that you are a Leftist dupe and suicidally stupid.

2) I am an American so the situation is probably different in the UK. But in America if a terrorist act is not committed by a Muslim it is committed by someone who is and has been ideologically attracted to the anarchist Left. McVeigh, Loughner, the Florida guy who flew a small plane into a Tampa sky scraper - all of them were affected by anarchist (anti-government) propaganda. This is not to say they were limited government advocates. They were ANARCHISTS.

So, there you have it. In America anyway, the two greatest terrorist threats are Islam and Anarchism.

What a pity a vile racist like Patrick has to smear someone posing a simple question.
1. Muslims are from many races, it is their religious ideology that is the problem not their race. Nobody questioned the loyalty of the other wonderful faiths in the army like Jews, Hindus, Sikh's or the wonderful Asian soldiers such as the Gurkhas.
2. Muslims have opened fire on US troops numerous times, for example Major Hasan killed 13 people at Fort Hood shouting Allahu Akbar. Clearly Major Hasan's loyalty to Islam exceeded his loyalty to the US.
3. It would be interesting to know if the number of 'British' Muslims attending terror camps in Pakistan & Afghanistan exceeded the number of Muslims in the British army. I suspect it does - an interesting loyalty ratio.

Anonymous, thank you for this intelligent comment. You are right, no one has doubted the competence, bravery and loyalty of the Jews, Hindus, Sikhs or Asians in the British military. It is only the ideology of Islam that commands murder of non-believers, and you are correct in noting the incidents of "sudden jihad syndrome" that have allowed Muslim military personnel to murder their colleagues.

Only a fool would fail to be suspicious of the followers of this ideology.
