Dave Brubeck, Jazz Great, Dies at 91

Dave Brubeck, famous jazz pianist, has died.  He is probably most famous for the song "Take Five."  Here he is in 1966 playing this great hit.

See Rick Darby's poignant tribute to Brubeck at Reflecting Light.

Take Five was one of my all time favorites as well as Blue Rondo a la Turk. RIP

Talk about irony:

Brubeck died of heart failure after being stricken while on the way to a cardiologist's appointment in Connecticut.

Brubeck was a great musician. We shall not see his like again for a long, long time -- if ever.

You kind of take someone you've known (personally or indirectly) for years and unconsciously imagine that person will never leave. And then one day ...

Rick, I know the feeling. That has happened so many times in my life.

No, unfortunately it seems the greatest jazz musicians are behind us now. Too bad.

Adrienne, I agree on Take Five, not familiar with the Blue Rondo, but I will look it up.
