Lawrence Auster: Why People SHOULD Burn the Koran

Lawrence Auster of View From the Right is one of the few who "gets it" on Terry Jones and the Koran.  He writes:
The Koran is this monstrous book written by the mouthpiece of a sadistic god who calls for our destruction. What is the proper response on our part to this book? To reject it completely. To burn a copy of the Koran is a perfect symbolic expression of our total rejection of this monstrous book. This is what Jones understands and what so few others understand. And why don’t they understand it? Because they don’t totally reject Islam. Consider Robert Spencer. Does Spencer totally reject Islam? Not at all. For all his withering critiques of “supremacist Islam” (rarely or never of Islam itself), his writings assume a future in which Islam is allowed to remain in our society and keeps getting stronger and more numerous among us while we keep reading about it and debating about it and complaining about it and asking rhetorical questions about when it will reform itself.
The only viable response of the West to Islam is to reject Islam completely.  It has no redeeming qualities, no worth to the human race.  It is the warlord ideology of a long-dead barbarian pirate.  It's major contribution to civilization is millions of deaths.  We can no more make compromises with Islam than we can with cannibalism or human sacrifice.  Islam is the antithesis of civilization.  It must be separated, isolated and contained.

More Koranifada today.

And I see the mainstream media putting the blame on Terry Jones.

So, how did these Moslems in Afghanistan get the work that Jones had burned a Koran. From Karzai, according to what I read a while ago on the web; I'm still trying to find out if that information about Karzai getting the imams all fired up is true.

Found it!

From the NYT:

...The latest protests were set off by sermons at Friday Prayer last week over the Koran burning. The previous week’s Friday Prayer had not provoked such reactions, even though the Koran burning had already taken place.

Both Afghan and international news media had initially played down or ignored the actions of Mr. Jones, the Florida pastor. On Thursday, however, President Karzai made a speech and issued statements condemning the Koran burning and calling for the arrest of Mr. Jones for his actions. On Friday, that theme was picked up in mosques throughout Afghanistan.

[...]

“Karzai brought this issue back to life, and he has to take some responsibility for starting this up,” said a prominent Afghan businessman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution if he was identified as a critic of the president....

Commoncents, that's funny, I couldn't find a word about it over at your site.

AOW, I don't like Karzai. Maybe he feels he has to prove his barbarian credentials so his fellow savages will more readily accept him.

Whatever, I want the US out of that hellhole at the first opportunity -- hopefully, right after they get through blowing up every mosque in the country.

I'm amazed at how many people feel the need to caveat that Jones' shouldn't have burned the Quran while opining that Jones isn't responsible for the Savages being true to their pseudo-religious beliefs.
I'm not sure about blowing up the Mosques before we leave, they are handy for drawing crowds on Fridays. Could work well with the new Doctrine "Of Obscenely Disproportionate Reaction" that should be the centerpiece of our new war on terror strategy.

Well said, Adobe Walls.

Now Stogie I have a homework assignment for you. Go get the book 'Muslims, Christians and Jesus' and read it. It won't take more than an hour or two. You might also want to reread Romans 12:18 and find the exception for me because I can't find it.

That pastor resembles Fred Phelps and his ilk more than he does people like Billy Graham. The only people that Jesus had a real problem with were the religious leaders of his day. Guess not much has changed in 2000 years.

And no, I'm not defending Islam, (especially the fanatics that like to destroy skyscrapers with 757s) merely trying to give you more information.

Vegas, I couldn't agree less. Jesus wasn't faced with mass murdering Muslims so his situation is different from ours. Pastor Jones is not Fred Phelps, who openly hates people; Jones does not. Jones hates an ideology that regularly commits mass murder. That makes him an upright guy in my book.

One more thing, Vegas...since I have read the Koran and much of the Haddith, as well as 17 scholarly books on Islam, its teachings, practices and history, I really find it out of place for you to give me any homework assignments. It is you who should be my pupil, not the other way around.

After reading our Political and Military leadership's response to Pastor Jones' burning of the Koran I'm dumbfounded. Not one of our ranking officials was considerate enough to thank the good reverend. After all one of the greatest difficulties in counter insurgency warfare is determining who is and is not the enemy. Pastor Jones has tricked the Islamists into collecting in groups with no cover. No justice.
