The South Will Rise Again: Individual States Assert Sovereignty

Twenty-eight states have now introduced resolutions affirming state sovereignty in light of President Obama's stimulus initiatives. The resolutions have passed in four states, Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota and Oklahoma.

An article in the Christian Science Monitor quotes state Rep Michael Pitt of South Carolina, who says "Washington can be a bully, but there's evidence right now that there are people willing to resist our bully." That resistance is taking the form of a state sovereignty movement that the Monitor says is "by no means frivolous and could have significant political firepower."

Pitt's concluding observations are somewhat chilling. He says: "...this is a wake-up call. And if Washington doesn't heed that wake-up call, revolution is on the horizon."
..

This movement has at least one website, the Tenth Amendment Center.
..
Pitt isn't the only politician bringing up the R word (revolution). Republican Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) appeared on the Sean Hannity show to "reiterate her calls for revolution in America," noting that Obama is leading the nation down the path of "economic Marxism."
..
Great minds think alike. See my original post along the same idea.
..
So let's sum it all up: almost three months into his presidency, Obama has inspired Boston-style tea parties throughout the United States, a new states rights movement and open discussions of revolution. People are very afraid of Obama's agenda and resistance appears to be building quickly and openly.
