Today the New Horizons spacecraft completed a journey of 9+ years and 3+ billion miles: it will fly past Pluto, the most distant planet (planetoid?) in our solar system. The spacecraft's closest approach to the planet will take it 7,750 miles above the surface.
Images from the fly-by will be processed and released tomorrow, Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
Here's the nearest-ever photo released for Pluto. It was taken yesterday, July 13. (Image credit = NASA)
