| Yankee Hatred Then As Now |
It's gotten so bad that radical white-hating blacks are now demanding the removal of Thomas Jefferson's memorial in Washington, D.C., and the renaming of Washington, D.C. (both Jefferson and Washington were slave owners).
This race-based hysteria has reached depths never previously attained in American history. Never before have politicians and "civil rights" race-hustlers assaulted so assiduously the traditions, culture and history of the South. What we are witnessing is an outpouring of hate, intolerance and ignorance by one segment of the population against another. The Confederate flag is not so much a symbol of hate, but its target. Indeed, it was largely this sectional hatred of North against South that brought on the last Civil War. It may very well bring on the next.
Each day brings fresh outrages, and I read about them, dumbfounded, shocked and sickened. Tonight, as I sit here at my table, I have to ask myself: Am I proud to be an American? The answer is no. Do I have any optimism for the future of this country? Again, the answer is no. Do I feel any patriotism for the USA? Not very much. Am I motivated to get out the vote for Republicans? No.
About the only thing I could get excited and motivated about is secession. I would love to see Texas lead the way. I would love to see various states flip off the federal tyranny on their way out the door.
We can no longer hope to save the America that once was -- but we can save pieces of it -- through secession. Instead of seeing the Confederate flag as a disdained memorial to long-dead and defeated soldiers, I want to see it flying proudly and lively over every state capitol in the South -- as the national flag of a new Southern Confederacy.

I figured the South-haters would try to make hay out of the actions of a lone madman. But I had no idea their efforts would get so much traction. Don't Republicans have ANY backbone? I sure don't see any.
All we can do now is to hold to what we know is true and right and hope for the best. As Lee counseled, It is history that teaches us to hope.
Mike, no, Republicans have no backbone. They would sell their daughters into harlotry before ever taking a stand on controversial issues, especially those involving race. The left morally emasculated them long ago.

Not sure, AOW, but it has been going on for at least 200 years. A lot of it may have to do with the Brits and the Celtics, who hated each other for centuries before moving here (think Sir William Wallace vs King Edward I). New England would be the Brits, and the South represents the Celtics, i.e., the Scottish, Irish and Welsh. The Confederate flag, for instance, is based on the Scottish St. Andrews Cross. The New England types, like their British forebears, believe they should rule over the rural agrarians, whom they see as rubes, peasants and hicks. The same attitudes largely exist today.
