A World in Turmoil, A Fool for a Leader

Let's see what the good news is today:

1.  Food prices see highest jump since 1974
2.  Japan is in ruins with possible nuclear disaster in the making
3.  Gas prices are over $4 a gallon (with higher prices on the way)
4.  Palestinian scum murders infant and toddler in Israel
5.  Liberals and Muslims highly agitated over King hearings, fear someone may hold them accountable for terrorism, mass murder and treason

Meanwhile, we have a fool in the White House who hasn't a clue how to fix any of these problems.  His latest behavior suggests passive aggression -- he deals with stress by ignoring the problems, while playing golf and studying the college basketball playoffs.

If you read nothing else today, do read the following:

Drill Baby Drill (Again) -- Jim Lacey of National Review Online describes the fantastic reserves we have of coal, natural gas and oil, and how we can't touch them because "progressives" won't let us.  Energy costs are rising and will rise even further; American families will suffer like never before.  If there is one great cause to which we should give priority, it is that of energy independence, something that will never be achieved while the Democrat party exists.  Lacey writes:
Unless we start drilling immediately, in a few years we will look back at $100-a-barrel oil as a fond memory. Surging demand in emerging nations, a ravenous China, and the needs of hopefully growing U.S. and European economies will soon outstrip supplies. Once that happens for a prolonged period, the price of oil will not stop south of $200. Present estimates place spare oil-production capacity at approximately 4 million barrels a day (MBD), most of which is in Saudi Arabia. As demand grew at an annualized rate of 3.3 MBD last quarter, it is clear that we are almost at the end of our tether.
Why They Celebrate Murdering Children -- Andrew McCarthy of National Review Online is one pundit who "gets it" with regard to Islam.  He writes:
Muslims, in fact, are more often exhorted by their scriptures to brutalize non-Muslims than Christians are urged by the gospels to love their enemies and turn the other cheek. Yet, though we assume the latter are meant to take the message to heart, we are somehow sure Islam doesn’t really mean what it says — that when Muslims strike terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, it must be Israel’s fault, or America’s, or something, anything, other than Islam, the only common denominator in these attacks.

Some Must Read Articles for Saturday

Infidel Blogger's Alliance has a must-read article on the potential legal liability of bloggers.  It's worth a read.  Our exposure as bloggers generally falls in the areas of copyright infringement and defamation.  I know a highly visible blogger who has been threatened with copyright infringement, although their use appears to be obviously "fair use" and exempt from infringement.  They will have to decide whether to fight or not fight if sued; even if you are in the right, it can cost a fortune to defend yourself.   One major protection you should have is umbrella liability insurance.  The cost is affordable and can cover you up to a million dollars.

Carol at No Sheeples Here has a video tribute to soldiers everywhere, appropriate for Memorial Day.

Donald Douglas at American Power is running an interesting photo of Britney Spears in a bikini.   Britney is not skinny and we love it.  My interest in the photo was strictly to assess the sociological ramifications of her impact on popular culture.  I am sure yours will be too!  Okay, okay, I just wanted to check out her legs.

The Other McCain has an informative and educational video featuring Nancy Pelosi who articulates well her political vision.  It really changed my mind about her, and I'm sure it will change yours too.

The Great American known as Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs has the best Memorial Day article I've seen yet, and it questions the wisdom of Barack Obama's apology to Germany for World War II.  Ms. Geller gives several reasons why this is unjustified and unwise -- 104,366 reasons, in fact.  These reasons are marked with white marble crosses in cemeteries all over Europe, and Pamela presents stunning pictures.

The Astute Bloggers explain how the Left's DDT ban has killed millions of people, making the Greens nearly as genocidal as the Reds.  However, the liberal left wants to feel good about themselves by banning pesticides, and we must keep our priorities straight.  (I recently ordered the book "Green Hell" that covers this and other environmental wacko policies.)

Hoosier Army Mom expresses my thoughts exactly on the rights of states, in her article, State Sovereignty, an idea whose time may have come.  With the outrageous growth in the power and size of the federal government under Obama, it is time for the states to draw a line in the sand.

Ron Russell of Totus discusses Israel and Iran and possible routes for an Israeli attack on Iran.

Great Blog Posts for Sunday

Charles Johnson runs fake photograph at Little Green Footballs, believing it to be real. Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs, in his continuing war on "Euro-fascists," posted a picture of two European politicians (Philip Dewinter of Vlaams Belang and Markus Beisicht of Pro-Köln) shaking hands in front of a street demonstration complete with red flags and (he thought) neo-fascist symbols. The smoking gun! However, the photograph was "fauxtography," a Photoshopped fake. Charles Johnson had been fooled and in venting his obsession with "Euro-fascism" made a fool of himself. Again.

Robert Spencer has the pathetic story at Jihad Watch.

Delaware University's Leftist Indoctrination Program for New Students
The FIRE is an organization supporting academic freedom on college campuses and is pursuing very worthy causes. They created a video of Delaware's recent indoctrination program for new students. The program was some of the worst Marxist propaganda I have ever seen. It begins with the premise that America is ruled by "White Supremacy," that all white people are people "of privilege" and that "racism" is whatever supports this system of white privilege. It's ridiculous and asinine in the extreme. Stop the ACLU has the video at this link.

A FIRE spokesman described this program as "not how to think but what to think" and totalitarian in nature.

Our universities, by and large, have long been a cesspool of the most extreme leftist/communist/Marxist ideology -- and it is they who are shaping attitudes and beliefs of our future leaders. This latest scandal only shows how they do it -- with insidious brain-washing propaganda.

Never in the history of the United States has a president worked so actively against the interests of his own people - not even Jimmy Carter. That's the conclusion of Gerald Warner of the UK Telegraph. He refers to Obama as "President Pantywaist" and the description is apt. Read his article Barack Obama and the CIA: why does President Pantywaist hate America so badly?

President Obama is a disaster for the United States of America. If the GOP can retake the House and Senate, they should not pass go but proceed immediately to impeaching the traitorous train wreck.

Aunty Belle's Back Porch has a great article of American Aid to other nations. It's called "Foreign Policy 101." Each vignette features some foreigner asking an impertient question with a devastating response from the American official. Each one ends with the sentence "You could have heard a pin drop."
