There is an internet rumor, as yet unsubstantiated, that Israeli warplanes have landed in Saudi Arabia for an attack on Iran. In the past few days American warships were reported moving through the Suez Canal, and the scuttlebutt is that Israel and the US are preparing to attack the nuclear facilities in Iran.
Personally, I find it hard to believe that Obama would support such an operation. However, it may be another case of the tail wagging the dog in preparation for the November elections.

US to Sell 1000 Bunker Buster Bombs to Israel
According to Newsmax, the United States has agreed to sell 1000 bunker buster bombs to Israel. It would appear that Israel is indeed taking steps to take out Iran's nuclear facilities. Bunker buster bombs are designed to penetrate hardened targets such as these.
Newsmax writes:
Newsmax writes:
Read it all here. The Pentagon has approved the sale of 1,000 bunker-busting smart bombs to Israel, a deal worth $77 million. According to Haaretz.com, the bombs could be used to penetrate heavily fortified targets, such as suspected nuclear sites located in underground bunkers.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the Pentagon department responsible for evaluating foreign military sales, notified Congress over the weekend about the pending sale. Congress now has 30 days to voice its objections.

A Real Alternative to War With Islam
According to Brian Sussman, one of my favorite talk radio hosts (KSFO, 640 AM, San Francisco), the United States is sitting on more oil than all the Middle East countries combined. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but it is clear we have tremendous, untapped reserves. The Democrats are doing everything they can to ensure those reserves never enter our gas tanks. We are in an odd situation here. The western nations buy billions of dollars of oil from Muslim countries who hate our guts and want to kill us. We ship untold wealth to them, enabling them to build armies, weapons and nuclear power plants and ultimately, nuclear weapons to use against us and Israel. Iran is threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off 20% of the world's daily oil production. No doubt they will use this threat to deter intervention when they finally attack Israel. Our dependence on Middle Eastern oil has made us into economic hostages and ensured the next war, should Iran make good on its threats.
If we could greatly reduce this wealth transfer to Muslim nations, we could defund their evil plans. We wouldn't have to fight these people. We could just starve them economically and isolate them so that they could not harm us.
Achieving energy independence would be the greatest plan we could have for preserving the peace. Of course it would have to include greatly restricting immigration from Muslim nations. We were attacked on 9/11 by Muslim immigrants who used our hospitality against us. We need to curtail both the internal threat as well as the external, and we need to be realistic and not idealistic about the nature of our enemy. If we can't win their hearts and minds, then we should concentrate on stopping their oil revenue and preventing new opportunities for domestic terrorism.
We need an effort comparable to the Marshall Plan to build new oil refineries, fund oil exploration on our own continent and off our own coast lines, and build new nuclear power plants. Solar and wind energy could add to the effort, but only as supplementary sources. We are not going to replace our energy needs with windmills. Any viable alternative energy sources are probably a century or more in the future. We don't need any more asinine pollyanna wishful thinking about switch grass, methanol or solar panels.
The Democrats' attitude towards energy independence is strange and unworkable. Bring up the subject and they start talking about "renewal energy sources" and massive funding of research in those areas. Whether this would produce any significant sources of alternative energy is highly doubtful, at least in our lifetimes. I almost get the impression that the Democrats are either dangerously naive or intent on destroying our economy, or that they enjoy seeing Americans suffer. They simply do not live in the real world.
McCain could exploit this very real problem by campaigning for increasing domestic energy sources and blaming our high prices, rightfully, on the Democrats. He could win with such a strategy; but will he use it? Probably not. McCain seems to have razor sharp instincts for how to lose this election.

Can Israel Take Out Iran's Nuclear Facilities?
My friend Donald Douglas at Burkean Reflections discusses Israel's ability to destroy the Iranian nuclear threat. But does Israel have the will? Do we?

Iran, a Boil on the Ass of Civilization
I am depressed over the seizure of the 15 British marines and sailors by the thugocracy of Iran, what a Jawa Report blogger has aptly described as "a boil on the ass of civilization." It reminds me of when Americans were seized back in 1979 and held for over a year under harsh and humiliating condition. Americans had to endure unquenched anger for many months. There is no feeling worse than unexpiated hatred. The desire to strike back at a bully, a villain, a despot can be overwhelming.
The West has become weak, decadent, and indecisive from too many years of liberal rule and the self-hating leftwing politics and culture that infest our media and universities. It is time we cleared this dry rot from the foundations of our civilization and replaced it with an iron resolve.
Today the Iranian despots are staging "angry" demonstrations at the British Embassy in Tehran and British officials are telling families of the kidnapped Brits to be ready for the long-term captivity of their loved ones. The Iranians, knowing full well that the weak and decadent West will not attack them, will milk the captives for all of the propaganda they can get.
Rabbi Aryeh Spiro shares my gloom (hat tip Jawa Report). He writes:

Rabbi Aryeh Spiro shares my gloom (hat tip Jawa Report). He writes:
This war has become demoralizing because of repeated incidents of this nature: the unwillingness of Western powers to crush the enemy even in service of defending our own people. We have allowed the enemy to think he is braver than us. We have, thereby, emboldened the enemy and made things tougher for ourselves, not easier.Amen brother. I don't care a damn about Muslim pride, as if so murderous a culture could engender such a feeling. For despots and tyrants, let there be no refuge, not even that afforded by a "holy" book or barbarism masquerading as religion. I look forward to the day when Western bombs will begin falling on Iran, reducing that tyranny to rubble.
We fire not on their fortress mosques, nor on their ships, nor during their holy days, nor in their holy cities, nor at their “holy men.” We dare not humiliate. Instead, we allow ourselves to be forever humiliated and forfeit our men and women. So concerned are we about not offending Muslim pride we have thrown away our own. The West has decided that all things Islamic are to be granted a reverence we no longer grant ourselves. The sand and plaster of the fortress mosque seems to carry more importance than even the flesh and blood of our own soldiers.

Playing Chicken with the Madman of Iran

Iranian President and Muslim Fascist Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is playing a dangerous game of "chicken" with the West. In high school "chicken" was played by two punks in hot rods driving towards each other at high speed. The first to swerve from the path of head-on collision was the "chicken." If neither driver was chicken, then both drivers were dead. Real cool, man.
President Imadinnerplate says he won't stop his nuclear enrichment program. He is betting that the West is too chicken to stop him. I think he's right; we won't. Iran will soon have the bomb and already has the missiles to deliver the bomb. A mushroom cloud (or several) over Israel seems likely in the near future.
With the Israelis dead the Left can then bring out new conspiracy theories of how the nuclear attack was really carried out by the Bush Administration in order to influence the polls and the 2008 presidential election. Kooks from New York will make movies showing how Tel Aviv's fiery end was really a controlled demolition that has Dick Cheney's fingerprints all over it. Arab leaders will swear that Israel was nuked by the Jews themselves in order to slander the name of Islam. Some paleocon nutball from Texas will give speeches in an evangelical style saying "I don't think the Tel Aviv holocaust was a controlled demolition, I KNOW IT WAS A CONTROLLED DEMOLITION!" At this point he will be drowned out by the thunderous applause and cheers of maniacal moonbats. Some Democrats will demand a congressional investigation to determine Bush's complicity in the disaster.
Yesterday there were reports in the news that Israel had asked for rights to an air corridor over Iraq so they could attack Iran's nuclear facilities. The story was probably a plant. Our intelligence agencies are good at head games but, with the Democraps in power, we are a toothless tiger. We can growl a lot but no longer have any bite. Propaganda is the best we can do.
President Madmood will not be playing chicken with the US or anyone else in the Western world anytime soon. In order to play chicken you have to have two cars on the road, and right now there is only one, the car from Iran. The Western World doesn't have to "play chicken." We're the real thing. We are authentic, thank you very much.
