I have been putting in quite a few hours studying Photoshop tutorials on the web.  I have been using this program for maybe 15 years, learning a little here and there.  Finally I have been inspired to greatly extend my knowledge of this useful program.

So here is another Photoshop of Bill Schmalfeldt, this time making use of the filter at filter/other/highpass, hard light.  I also use layer pattern overlays to create texture, as well as filter/artistic/poster edges to get all those neat black spotty highlights.  Don't know why, just makes it look more "sketched."

Well I've had enough of Bill for awhile so will be in search of other material.

BILL SCHMALFELDT, a #Photoshop

I have been admiring the comic depictions of Bill Schmalfeldt, liberal pundit (and serial harrasser) over at Kimberlin Unmasked.  I believe the artist achieves these excellent graphic effects using filters and layers in Photoshop.  I like the pixelated effects and the paper-like textures, resembling a comic book page.   I am experimenting to develop some of these effects on my own.  I'm not there yet, but am having fun trying.

Here is a photo of Bill Schmalfeldt, rendered into a comic book depiction, using Photoshop.  It was just for fun, but use it however you may wish.

GQ's Comic Strip Lamentation for Osama Bin Laden

The online version of Gentleman's Quarterly has published a "web comic" about the termination of Osama Bin Laden by Navy Seals in May of this year.  They asked some well-known comic book artists to illustrate the mission that killed Bin Laden.

The artwork is well done, but carries a leftist bias (most comic book artists nowadays are progressives on steroids). Osama Bin Laden, the murderer of 3,000 people on 9/11/2001, is displayed as a tired, wise old man, a rather sympathetic figure:

Five years -- six?  Caged in these rooms and NOW FINALLY--the end sounds close and far at the same time -- the walls around him complicate things --

The web comic ends with Osama taking a bullet to the head, with the blazing legend "FOR GOD AND COUNTRY".

The cynical legend is subtly sarcastic and reflects leftist biases against both "God and Country."  Only Christian religious fanatics and wildly patriotic jingoists machine gun kindly, tired and wise old men.  (Yes, his tired eyes seem to silently and sadly lament the strife and violence -- oh, why can't this be a better world?  Why can't we all just get along?  Why does it always have to end this way?  Aren't we supposed to be better than this?) 

The answer to kindly grandpa's silent questions is simple.  It is because dangerous and slightly mad rightwingers believe that killing is the ultimate expression of religious ecstasy and love of country.   Never mind the murdered Americans and billions of dollars of damage to the World Trade Center and Pentagon.  Let's just focus on the kindly old man with his lovable grandpa-like beard and his tired eyes.  Let us not dwell on his crime.  He was merely a victim of American religious fanaticism and mindless patriotism.  Every college sophomore knows that these two evils account for all the violence and hatred in the world.  Hey, that 9/11 thing was just an excuse...or an inside job used to justify the murder of non-Christians.

For God and country my ass.  For justice.  Thank God the S.O.B. is dead.  I only regret that it took ten years to find him.

Spider-Man Turns Black & Hispanic

The New Spider-Man

It has been noted that comic book makers are very left wing nowadays.  First they praised Barack Obama and made him a close buddy of Spider-Man; then they had Superman renounce his American citizenship.  Now Superman flies above Gotham with the same stirring music, but different words:  "For Truth, Justice and the One-World-Government Way!"

However, nothing has been able to completely scratch that P.C. itch, the desire to elevate "the Other" and remove Whitey from the scene.  But the comic book kids keep right on trying.

Yes, it was inevitable.  Spider-Man has become a young kid who is half black and half hispanic.  You see, Peter Parker, the white, nerdy kid who became the original Spider-Man, has been killed; but don't worry, it only happened in a parallel universe.  The new kid on the web is Miles Morales.  Now everyone has their own Spider-Man, depending on what universe they live in.

I don't know why all this ethnic business is so important to lefties.  Back when Zorro was carving a Z in everything that moved, I didn't insist on a European-derived Zorro.  I was happy to be pretend-hispanic as I drew Z's all over the neighborhood with a crayon.  Besides, a white Zorro would have to be renamed The Fox, since that is the English translation of "El Zorro," and then he would have to make the sign of the F, not the Z, and you can just imagine where that would have led.

Next up:  A Spider-Man in a wheel chair; a Spider-Man who is gay; a Spider-Man who is transgender.  Perhaps we will have a Spider-Man who is a Muslim.  A bit more troublesome:  a Spider-Man who is a single mother and a lesbian.  When you live in parallel universes, the possibilities are endless.

Superman's Peckerectomy

Superman's creators have been moving "the Man of Steel" further left as time goes on. A section of comic strip has been making the rounds, showing Superman renouncing his US citizenship, to avoid having his actions seen as "instruments of U.S. policy." Superman is now a leftwing liberal, and like same, he detests his own country and yearns for a world government where he can merge with "the other," i.e., anyone and anything unamerican.

By the way, according to Webster's, a peckerectomy is the surgical removal of one's penis when it is no longer needed, or when its owner wishes to renounce his manhood or register as a Democrat. (You can look it up.)
