Remembering Paul Harvey

Paul Harvey, long-time radio personality, died yesterday at age 90. Paul Harvey had a warm, sonorous voice that seemed made for radio. It made you feel you were listening to your dad or maybe to God; it was filled with kindness and projected wisdom and confidence.

I first noticed Paul Harvey when I was 21 years of age, when I was young, confused and scared of life. I really enjoyed his radio broadcasts.

C-Dubya over at Michelle Markin's site said that Harvey was a blogger before there were blogs, perhaps the world's first conservative talk radio pundit. Harvey had a tremendous sense of good speech making, e.g. the pregnant pause, the dramatic flourish, the sudden, illuminating and satisfying conclusion.

Paul Harvey was a conservative in many ways, but could be the maverick from time to time. He towed nobody's party line, carried no one's water but his own.

I didn't always agree with him. He wanted to pull out of Viet Nam and I resented his saying so on the radio, as I thought it strengthened the resolve of the communists and domestic traitors here at home. No Sheeples blog has an excellent video up at her site. The video is of a Paul Harvey broadcast, "A Letter from God." Again, there is much in it that I like and agree with, but not everything. The video does demonstrate well Paul Harvey's warm and authoritative voice.

Check it out at this link.

I will always remember Paul Harvey. He was, to me, a beloved personality and a friend I never met, but always respected and always enjoyed. May he rest in peace.

Pastorius Hosts "Voices of Freedom" Radio Show This Thursday; Guest is Robert Spencer

Pastorius, a cool and classy guy from Infidel Bloggers' Alliance will host the "Voices of Freedom" radio show this Thursday, August 7th. The show, once again, is broadcast live from Phoenix, Arizona on KFNX Radio, 1100 AM on local dials. Most of us don't live in Phoenix (I did once and don't miss the summer temperatures), but you can listen to the broadcast over the internet.

Pas's guest will be Robert Spencer (see photo at right), a well known scholar of Islam and prolific author on the subject. I've read four of his books, including "Onward Muslim Soldiers," "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades," "The Myth of Islamic Tolerance" and "The Truth About Muhammad, Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion." I found all of them interesting and informative. Spencer runs a well-known website, "Jihad Watch," and he has been the target of harsh criticism from Muslim groups including CAIR. Spencer will make a highly interesting guest and you sure don't want to miss this show.

See Pastorius's radio ad in the left sidebar; please do download it and run it on your own blog and website; help promote the show!

Pas (as I like to call him) also has his own blog, http://www.cuanas.blogspot.com/.

You can access the online stream by clicking on the Pastorius radio ad in the left sidebar. Time for the show is 8:00 PM Pacific Standard Time and 11:00 PM for Eastern Standard Time; I'm not sure what the time is for central states, so please check your local time for the show.

Radio KFNX "Voices of Freedom" On Tonight!

Last week Pam Geller hit a home run in her first hour-long hosting of a live radio program. Tonight she is followed by Always on Watch and W.C. of The Gathering Storm. They will interview Nonie Darwish, a former Muslim who is now a Christian and author of books exposing Islam for the violent and intolerant ideology that it is.

You can listen to the radio program by clicking the "Voices of Freedom" ad in the left sidebar and clicking on the "listen" link at KFNX. Online radio is very clear and a delight to listen to, so if you haven't tried it before, try it tonight.

Or, you can just click on this link and it will bring up the streaming audio.

Remember, the show starts at 8 PM on the West Coast and 11 PM on the East Coast.

Update: The radio show went smoothly; both Always on Watch and W.C. were cool and professional. Their guest, Nonie Darwish was interesting. If you missed the show, you can download the audio file here.

Pamela Geller, Pastorius & Others on Phoenix Radio Tonight

Pamela Geller, Pastorius, the Gathering Storm, Always on Watch and Cassandra USA will host a broadcast radio show on KFNX, 1100 AM in Phoenix. You can call in at 602-277-KFNX.

You can listen live over the intenet.

I had trouble getting the stream earlier, but it's working now. The bloggers will host a broadcast radio show at 8 PM tonight, PST. Listen online here.

I will add the KFNX link to my radio list in the left sidebar.

UPDATE: I am listening to the show and it is coming in very clear. Online transmissions of radio programs are actually clearer and better than actual radio -- there is no static.

Pamela is in rare form. The show is lively and enthusiastic.

UPDATE: I called into the show and asked Pamela about what she will be doing as an official blogger at the Republican National Convention. She gave a great answer.
